Exciting news for the film industry! OpenAI has just released Sora, a new text-to-film tool that has the potential to revolutionize the way we create ads, movies, news, interviews, and documentaries. This groundbreaking technology is a game changer and is sure to change the way we think about film production. I think it's a threat (and an opportunity, as all threats are) to the film industry as Sora and other video models mature. Imagine a world where actors are not needed anymore, where directors can let their imagination go completely wild, and where producers will minimize their financial risks. A new world is being created as we speak. Now this comes at a cost: environmental (energy and metal consumption), artistic (will we have incredible AI talents as we have incredible human talents), attention (more videos means more time consumed to watch them)... 2023 was the year when more images were created by AI than my humans, will 2024 be the year when more videos are created by AI than by humans?

It's not "available" publicly just yet, only to a few "lucky" selected creators. Soon enough I guess... the AI battle is on. :) As Marc Israel suggested, metadata will probably be added as is the case in Dall-E 3 which was announced earlier this month: C2PA. I tend to think that the new focus and quest will be for genuine human content in many contexts, in others it will be a huge opportunity for those who are creative but lack the technical skills to produce video content. True memories are created through genuine life experiences, something that AI cannot replace or generate. My hope is that, as we increasingly utilise AI for work and other activities, we will ultimately return to the essence of being human, which entails connecting with others rather than spending 10 hours/ day or more in front of screens at work or at home...
