Architects, bricklayers, electricians, investors, truck drivers, producers of raw materials ... It takes a lot of work from a variety of people to build a house, let alone a better future. It's work that happens incrementally, brick by brick, until the foundations are strong enough to support multitudes and to stand the test of time. It's how we approach our market building work. My top 5 takeaways from the #Big5Kenya tradeshow. 1. An impatient energy in East Africa There seemed to be a strong sense of "let's get on with it already!" The construction sector wants to take its growth and innovation into its own hands. 2. Wooden roof trusses are a problem. They lifted the logging ban in 2023. Everyone I spoke with agreed that timber supply and quality are still issues. Not to mention the increase in termite infestations. 3. Modular construction is the trend. The clear trend in East Africa right now is off-site and modular construction methods. They are container conversions, hospitality "pods," or panelized manufacture for buildings. 4. LSF Building is only getting started. There is a hunger for more education focused on modern methods of construction. 5. FRAMECAD is investing in Africa. Many companies are either withdrawing from Africa or being passive. We keep proving our commitment to innovation in Africa. Our tech provides real solutions to the many problems plaguing our communities. #constructiontech #constructionafrica

Over the past decade, Africa's construction industry has been a driving force in transforming the continent's infrastructure, with forecasts suggesting the market will reach USD 74.81 billion by 2029. Innovative building techniques and sustainable practices are fueling this growth. In Côte d'Ivoire, the ZIC - Zones Industrielles de Côte d’Ivoire is becoming a hub for opportunities in cement, ceramics, and hardware products. Meanwhile, in Congo, the glass manufacturing sector is gaining momentum, especially within the Plateformes Industrielles du Congo Pointe-Noire (PICP). With investments in modern construction technologies and a focus on high-quality materials, the industry is laying the foundation for resilient urban environments.
