mar. 26 déc. à 07 h 00 Le gouvernement Luxembourgeois 1/2 Christmas Speech 2023 by HRH the Grand Duke Dear fellow citizens, Faster, higher, stronger – together, that is the motto of the Olympic Committee. This is also the common thread that runs through the last 12 months, for better and for worse. The war in the middle of Europe as in the Middle East, the worsening of climate change, the explosion in the number of migrants, all these upheavals have worsened and gained momentum. Many of us feel disconcerted by these developments. Prices are increasing, penalizing those who are already economically exposed, the economy is slowing down and weighing on our businesses and the job market. Precariousness is spreading. For all these reasons we must show solidarity and do our best so that no one loses their place in our society. Added to this are advances in artificial intelligence, which will make our lives easier, but also pose many challenges. When things get bad, we look for a scapegoat. This situation is nothing new. We have seen how, in the past, some have used similar circumstances to spread hatred and intolerance and we have seen what this has led us to. The trend is there and it is on the rise. If we do not react, we run the risk that it will take over and present a danger to our society which is based on respect and tolerance. Let's stay alert and show courage to prevent our values from being trampled. Dear fellow citizens, All of these topics, and many more, were discussed during this year's election campaigns. Everyone was able to form an opinion and vote. Today more than ever, we must remain aware of the unspeakable privilege we have to live in an open democracy that guarantees freedom of thought. Because our rule of law and our democratic and humanist values are never definitively acquired. Dear All, Yes, the world we live in is complex. The problems are numerous, most of the time lacking simple and quick solutions. We will only find these solutions if we manage to join our efforts and work together, without selfishness, without ulterior motives. For my part, I am happy to live in a country that welcomes people from 180 countries, from all parts of the globe. Of course we have our own identity, marked by our historical journey and, of course, we will preserve it.

Northern Ireland Health Trust Chairs have this morning warned that budget cuts have “very real potential for avoidable and serious harm” esp to most vulnerable and “high and catastrophic impacts” to services. https://lnkd.in/ehAqErFS Ann Watt offered some thoughts on GMU this morning. Link to listen again below. Five headline points: 1. Dept of Health budget is 2.3% lower than total spent last year. So unsurprising there are serious problems with delivering same services with less funding. And context is services are already falling far short of what's expected – waiting lists, GPs, EDs, social care, staffing. 2. Important to note that health has an 6% in-built upward annual pressure on spending due to increasing demand, rising costs & new treatments. Also current budget pressures are coming on back of impacts of Covid on services & staff, declining pop'n health & high staff vacancies. 3. In short-term, at all levels health system needs to look for every possible efficiency – but already there is £300m factored in for planned efficiency savings so there may not be much more to save. The £200m+ available to NI Depts in June monitoring round offers some hope. 4. While this isn’t going to solve problems this year, we MUST get on with long-overdue transformation. We know what needs to be done & it should have started 10-20 yrs ago. Political instability and lack of willingness to take unpopular decisions bear a lot of responsibility here. 5. Could this get worse? Unfortunately yes – workforce issues, an un-reformed system, ever-increasing demand and stagnant funding are a nightmare combination. Without major change, there isn't enough funding to continue to provide a free service on the same scale as in past. Listen from 36:40 👇 https://lnkd.in/eYgCcpqb

Thanks to European Large Families Confederation (ELFAC) and all the organizers of this congress who gave us the opportunity to become part of this network for share professional experiences and create family-friendly areas. We promote the #circulareconomy and #ecosustainability, reducing the impact of #WEEE waste, with the aim of "0 waste". From this philosophy, the WEEKO 2025 Agenda was born, with the aim of satisfying social and environmental needs, in line with the UN Agenda 2030. Our desire to create partnerships with universities and non-profit organizations has led us to achieving an important recognition from "Il Sole 24Ore", which placed us among the 10 best Italian companies operating in the sustainability sector. For us too, it is essential to create a #familyfriendly cultural, social and economic environment and implement concrete actions to encourage young people to enhance the territory, accompanying them in the transition to adult life. The EU has allocated significant resources to support #digitaltransformation. This is an unprecedented opportunity to increase your resilience and pursue a humane and sustainable vision for society throughout the digital decade in order to empower citizens and businesses. Together we work for a better world!

When you think it’s impossible, you’ve lost before you even started. I’m inspired by a video I recently saw projected on Germany’s Parliament (Bundestag) buildings which celebrated 75 years since the founding of West Germany (now all of Germany). The complexity of the reunification after the fall of the #BerlinWall is mind-blowing: differing economic & social models as well as environmental standards to name a few. Then of course there’s the enormous funding requirement to make alignment happen. I can’t even imagine how many meetings & disagreements occurred to finally come to some kind of consensus. If you think your to-do list today is challenging, think about #GermanReunification #75JahreDemokratieLebendig #inspirationalleadership @iwfukwomen
