Everybody has ups and downs – it’s completely normal 🤗 Are you struggling to overcome limiting beliefs? There’s most likely a viable reason. And having been there myself, I can help you figure out what’s stopping you from living the life you desire👇 👀 Reason #1 – Societal expectations. It’s important for women to actively challenge societal norms, surround themselves with role models who defy these stereotypes, and pursue their passions regardless of external pressures. Communities and support networks that emphasise female empowerment are crucial in helping women break free from these societal molds. 👀 Reason #2 – Internalised self-doubt. Women need to build a strong sense of self-awareness and self-worth. Techniques like positive affirmations, journaling to challenge negative thoughts, and practising self-compassion can help shift this inner dialogue. By regularly reflecting on their strengths, achievements, and unique abilities, women can reframe these beliefs into more empowering ones. 👀 Reason #3 – Lack of supportive environments. The solution lies in actively seeking out mentors, communities, or professional networks that uplift and encourage growth. Women should prioritise building relationships with those who offer constructive feedback, celebrate their successes, and push them to challenge their limits. Could any of these be the reason you’re struggling to have a fulfilled life? 😣 Try switching up your strategy to see if you can make a change! ARE YOU TRULY CONFIDENT, or JUST GOOD AT HIDING YOUR DOUBTS???? Ask yourself. Think about it for 2 minutes. Self-Realization is the 1st Step. What Happens WHEN WOMEN DON'T FEEL CONFIDENT??? 1. Self-Doubt Takes Over: Constantly second-guessing their decisions leads to anxiety, making it difficult to pursue opportunities and take risks, ultimately hindering personal and professional growth. 2. Isolation and Loneliness: A lack of confidence can cause women to withdraw from social situations, missing out on connections and support systems that are crucial for emotional well-being. 3. Negative Self-Talk: Women may develop a harsh inner critic, leading to feelings of unworthiness, impacting their mental health and overall happiness. BENEFITS OF BEING CONFIDENT WOMEN 1. Empowered Decision-Making: With confidence, women can make choices that align with their values and goals, leading to a greater sense of control over their lives and future. 2. Stronger Relationships: Confidence fosters open communication and vulnerability, allowing women to build deeper connections and support networks with others. 3. Pursuit of Dreams: Confident women are more likely to set ambitious goals and actively pursue them, transforming aspirations into reality and inspiring others along the way. I teach women in STEM how to play the game | get your next promotion + reach your full potential | engineer + psychologist | girl mom 🖤
𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: Women worry too much about being liked. No, actually they don't. When the systems within male-dominated industries are NOT there to support your career growth... It's unfortunately really important to be liked. Let me explain why I think this (other than my experience): We are social primates. Deep within us, the desire to be part of a group outweighs almost anything else. Our survival used to depend on it. So when you look around your workplace, & you're one of a few females among hundreds of men, you feel deeply the importance of fitting in. "How will I advance if I'm not one of them?" But that's not possible.. so the next best option is: 𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 & 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺. So you play this impossible balancing game of being liked and trying to gain authority. & actually? I think this is a game most people play. Being liked -> Acceptance -> Showing up as who you are. Here are a few insights from my career & research to make it easier: ❌ don't FOCUS on being liked ✅ focus on building relationships ❌ don't back down from a fight ✅ politeness does not gain respect ❌ stop acting like you're not smart ✅ girl, speak up! build authority when you can. ❌ don't defer all the credit away to others ✅ do you deserve the praise? own it and move on. ❌ don't talk sh*t about other women - ever. ✅ we're all on a big ole male-dominated struggle bus. ❌ don't worry about the people who don't like you ✅ focus on where your influence IS, not where it isn't Struggling with the balancing act? Let's talk. #femaleengineers #engineering #maledominatedindustries

This article is too good not to share. I have been thinking about confidence a lot lately and how to present confidence to those around me in a way that feels authentic to me. For me, it can't be about being the loudest or most assertive in a room of others. It has to be a true knowing that I belong where I am sitting. That I know my stuff and while far from perfect, have earned a seat at said table. The caveat is, for me real confidence is being comfortable enough in your own skin, and knowing who you are authentically, and thus not letting external pressures change you. You can be confident and quiet. You can be self assured and show up with vulnerability and humility in every arena. In this article, it talks about how women will hold back on pursuing an opportunity if they lack one skill or quality, and in the past couple of years, I have identified that as something I do. Studies say it is something a LOT of women do. Instead of just sitting on the side lines and letting opportunities pass me by, I made an intentional choice to pursue education and learning that will help me grow and acquire skills that I currently don't confidently feel I possess. This is not a weakness, because each of us, no matter where we are in our lives and careers can find areas to focus on for learning and self improvement. It's a matter of focus. Once I've acquired that learning and those skills, the confidence that I build in those areas will be mine to keep. Fought for and earned, and mostly importantly authentic. Not something I need to put on as armor Monday to Friday. https://lnkd.in/eeRa43FY

When individuals come to work with me they often think that they need to get rid of their lack of confidence so they can achieve their goals. But actually… I help them understand the anatomy of confidence and how to make friends with pressure. And my clients aren’t the only ones because…According to a study by the National Bureau of Economic Research, close to 80% of women struggle with low self-esteem and shy away from self-advocacy at work. In other words, four in five women may be held back in their career by a lack of confidence and visibility. Findings from a Manchester Business School study found that women believe that they are 20% less valuable than men think they are. How can we “crack the confidence code”? I have a few things to share about this, but would love to hear from you… what helps you with your own confidence? #confidence #confidentleader #confidenceinbusiness #selfbelief

Women Don't Ask My friend recently came to me for advice. She was worried that she had initiated a conversation with her manager and asked to be put in charge of an important project. She got a ‘yes’. It was a win-win. However, my friend was concerned about whether this was the right way to go about it. Smart, energetic, self-motivated, kind and passionate about her work, here she was questioning whether she was doing the right thing by ASKING. Women don’t usually ask. I can definitely relate and so can many women around the world. Studies show that compared to men, women usually don't see themselves as ready for promotion and generally underestimate their abilities. Great article here on confidence gap: https://lnkd.in/d2fT-2NV. How to build confidence is a topic for another time. But the first step is to acknowledge the gap and become mindful bosses, colleagues and mentors for women. I told my friend a story about how I asked for my first promotion early in my career at #3Shape. In fact, I created a role that didn't exist because I saw a need for it. I had been doing it successfully for some time without an official title. So I went ahead and asked for the promotion. I did some research, prepared some bullet points, took a deep breath and hit SEND. What's the worst that could have happened? I could have gotten a no. I didn't. I am still lacking confidence in many areas. Like most women, I worry about my performance, have imposter syndrome with new roles, question my skills, afraid of being ‘too much’ etc. But I believe I am in the right environment and have enough support to grow stronger. And I am learning to be that support for others. ✔️Because confidence is just as important as competence. Do you have a story to share? #careergrowth #womeninleadership

Midlife Coach I Speaker I Author . I guide women who are disillusioned with their current work situation towards redefining their path and building a life they truly love.
💚 There are so many incredible women out there and I love helping you feel more confident. 🌈 If you want to supercharge your confidence at work, please check out my latest blog post where I share powerful strategies for building confidence in the workplace. It's tailored specifically for women like you - women who are showing up and working hard every day. Women who feel a little lost, aren't getting the success and fulfillment they want from their work. Here's an excerpt under the section: 🌟 HOW TO OVERCOME SETBACKS🌟 Setbacks are inevitable in life, as well as any career journey, and knowing how to respond to them will make a big difference to how quickly you get over them, and how much or how little they dent your confidence. Reframe Failure as Learning: It’s corny, we’ve all read articles and social media posts that tell us things like “there is no such thing as failure, only learning”. The reason there are so many of these words of wisdom is because they are true. Whenever you get a setback, remind yourself it’s an opportunity to learn and learning means growth, so it’s all fine. Don’t listen to the negative voice in your head that tells you you are a failure, or inadequate. Tip: To quiet that unhelpful voice in your head - talk to it, in the third person. Say “I don’t need your help thank you I’ve got this covered”. Stay positive. Keeping your focus on your goals helps to maintain a positive attitude. Acknowledge the progress you are making and be kind to yourself during difficult times. Setbacks are normal. Everyone faces them, instead, see them as a sign to stop, review, and replan. What holds women back from achieving their career and business goals is the lack of confidence, not their lack of capabilities. Confidence can be easy for some while it's difficult for others. Confident people welcome new challenges because they know that they are reasonably up to the challenge. Confident people celebrate others and feel genuine happiness for them rather than envy or comparison. Bridging the confidence gap is an important step to living successfully in all areas of life. It's time to break the ceiling.... Celebrate and reflect on your wins. Have positive self-talk or affirmation sessions. Step out of your comfort zone. Embrace your failures and view them as learning opportunities. Stop comparing yourself to others. Treat yourself with respect. Track your monthly, quarterly, bi-annually and annually progress #confidence #bridgingtheconfidencegap #engagingwithconfidence #confidenceboost #womenempowerment #breakingtheceiling #womenandconfidence #girlempowerment #girlconfidence #breakingthebias #takingthebullbythehorns #ignitingconfidence
