Thinking about thinking: Metacognition Did you know that having learners think about their own thinking can improve learning outcomes? Instructional design that incorporates self-assessment, reflection activities, and strategies for self-regulated learning can empower learners to take control of their learning processes. For example, after completing a module, ask learners to journal about what strategies helped them understand the concepts best and what they could do differently in future modules to improve their learning.
