India is launching a spectrum auction today i.e. 25th June, Tuesday, featuring airwaves valued at ₹96,317.65 crore.💰
This marks the start of this year's auction, during which private sector telecom service providers such as Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel Ltd, and Vodafone Idea Ltd will compete for the spectrum.
The three major telecommunications companies, which together have a nearly one billion user base for mobile phones,📱 are anticipated to invest approximately ₹15,000 crore in securing frequency licenses for both 4G and 5G technologies, as estimated from preliminary data from several financial analysts.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meit)🏢 is set to organize the bidding process to allocate frequencies over a range of bands including the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1,800 MHz, 2,100 MHz, 2,300 MHz, 2,500 MHz, 3,300 MHz, and 26 GHz regions.
Jio, Airtel, and VodafoneIdea have together put down a total of ₹4,350 crore as a serious deposit, as per data from the Department of Transport. Jio, India's biggest telecom company, has put in ₹3,000 crore, Bharti Airtel and VodafoneIdea have each contributed ₹1,050 crore and ₹300 crore, respectively.
