Something to consider when you're social selling. Our own employee advocacy efforts generated a record number of inbounds recently. The interesting part... Not a single one of them had engaged with our social posts. We only knew because every message on the form submissions started with something like 'I saw your LinkedIn post...' Prospects don't like to 'Like' or comment because they're afraid of being contacted immediately afterwards. So, don't worry if you don't get any/many likes when you post. Just remember that people are still seeing your content. So you're thinking of hiring a community manager or starting a community? Here are 3 things you need to consider: 👉 Community Building isn't for the weak. It is emotionally and mentally exhausting (but those that do it know it's worth it!) 👉 You can't just take someone from CS or Sales and throw them into the community space (at least without providing them access to resources like the CMX summit). Community building is a true skill and it takes time to build that muscle. Plus- you're probably throwing it to that CS or Sales person while they're still responsible for their CS/Sales activities- which doesn't make things easier. 👉 *this might be a hot take* If you're looking to fill this role and you haven't spent time in the community to understand what it takes, or how processes work, then you probably shouldn't be the one hiring for it. You won't truly understand what you're looking for and will end up disappointed. I see these things happen time and time again, while also trying to find a "cheaper" option- even though they're not the best fit. You're going to spend 2-3x the amount of money by not spending it upfront on the right candidate. ✨ If you're looking to add community or fill a role- holler at me!
