🛥✨ In the world of luxury, the allure of owning a yacht can be spellbinding. However, when it comes to yacht charter economics, owning isn't always the best option. Here's why: 1️⃣ The Cost of Ownership: The purchase price of a yacht is just the tip of the iceberg. Maintenance, crew salaries, insurance, docking fees - these ongoing expenses can quickly add up, often amounting to 10% of the yacht's initial cost, annually. 💸 2️⃣ Depreciation: Like most assets, yachts depreciate over time. This depreciation can be significant, especially for new models. 📉 3️⃣ Limited Use: Most yacht owners use their vessels for less than 6 weeks a year. That's a lot of idle time for such a significant investment. ⏳ On the other hand, chartering a yacht offers several advantages: ✨ Flexibility: Chartering allows you to experience different yachts, destinations, and crew each time you sail. You're not tied to one location or vessel. 🌍 💰 Cost-Effective: With chartering, you only pay for the time you use. No maintenance costs, no crew salaries, no docking fees. 🚫 Hassle-Free: Chartering eliminates the headaches of ownership. No need to worry about maintenance, hiring crew, or managing the yacht. In conclusion, while owning a yacht may bring a certain prestige, the economics of yacht chartering often make it a more sensible choice. So before you sign on that dotted line, consider the financial implications and the value of flexibility. Remember, the luxury of yachting isn't confined to ownership. #YachtCharterEconomics #LuxuryTravel #Yachting 🚤✨

Deciding what yacht to buy Choosing the best yacht to match your lifestyle can be a lengthy process. Yacht brokers have the tools and experience to find the best yachts. ⚓ How do you choose the best yacht for you Whether you are completely new to the world of yachting, or you are exchanging your old boat for a new one, there is multiple things to consider Your budget for the purchase and your ability to maintain the vessel all year round ✅ Size and style that fits your preferences ( speed boat, cruiser, ect.) Location and permanent berth options Shipyard, brand Technical specifications (low engine hours, stabilisers, etc.) ✅ Budget considerations Choosing a yacht is always exciting process, but it is important to take into account all the things that are part of the budget. Of course it is the yacht itself, but also annual berth, maintenence, engine services, shipyard, crew and other costs that come with an ownership of a yacht. ✅ Brokers can help you choose the right yacht Yacht brokers can negotiate deals but also help you choose the best type of yacht for you Great knowledge of the industry and used yacht market can help to find more yachts for sale Brokers have greater negotiating power by giving a professional opinion regarding the yacht's condition Brokers can use their industry experience to manage the seller's and buyers expectations ✅ Make an offer with some wiggle room for negotiation Once you have decided to make an offer, it is always recommended to keep a room for negotiation. You can highlight the reasons, why you are giving such offer and give the current yacht owner an opportunity to fix the issues that you have mentioned. “Brokers have a great experience in the yachting industry and are there to protect the interests of both the buyer and the seller, and to close a deal where each party is satisfied.” Yacht buying is a fun and exciting process, if you have a serious interest always ask to take the yacht for a sea trial to see how it performs on the water and not just how everyone describes it.

An interesting observation: Yacht buyers and charter clients are no longer just looking for luxury—they’re looking for connectivity. In today’s market, poor internet on a yacht can be a dealbreaker. Millennials and Gen Z clients expect seamless, high-speed internet, even in the middle of the ocean. Yet, many yacht owners treat onboard internet as an afterthought. This is a missed opportunity. Seamless connectivity is no longer a "nice-to-have"—it’s essential for crew satisfaction, guest experience, and closing high-value deals. Yachts that offer cutting-edge internet are standing out in a crowded market, while others are falling behind. For brokers, showcasing internet reliability is a game-changer. It can attract more inquiries, boost charter demand, and even increase the yacht’s value. As regulations change, requiring yachts to provide internet for crew by 2024, this is the moment to ensure your listings aren’t left behind. How are you preparing for this shift in client expectations? Let me know your thoughts below! ~~~ 🛥️ Eliminate costly mistakes! The beautiful history of yacht chartering brought to you by Ties Olivier Today I explored the history of yacht chartering, i hope you enjoy this little venture! When we think of yacht chartering today, images of opulent vessels cruising through crystal-clear waters likely come to mind. However, the practice of chartering yachts dates back centuries and has a fascinating history that has evolved over time. The concept of yacht chartering can be traced back to ancient civilizations, where wealthy individuals would commission ships for various purposes, such as transportation, exploration, or entertainment. The ancient Greeks and Romans, for example, used chartered vessels for leisurely cruises along the Mediterranean coast. Fast forward to the Middle Ages, and the practice of chartering ships became more formalized with the rise of maritime trade. Merchants would rent entire ships to transport goods, thus laying the foundation for modern maritime commerce. In the 20th century, yacht chartering experienced a renaissance as technological advancements made luxury yacht travel more accessible to a wider audience. What was once reserved for the elite became a popular vacation choice for those seeking a unique and luxurious experience on the high seas. Still for the more wealthy indivuduals tho. Today, the yacht chartering industry continues to thrive, offering a wide range of options for enthusiasts around the world. From sleek sailing yachts to mega motor yachts, there is a vessel to suit every taste and preference. Whether you're looking to explore exotic destinations, host a memorable event, or simply relax in style, yacht chartering provides a one-of-a-kind experience that combines luxury, adventure, and (most of the time) a unparalleled service. As we reflect on the history of yacht chartering, one thing remains clear: the allure of the open sea and the freedom of exploration will continue to captivate us for years to come. What is the difference between the terms: Yacht, Super yacht or Mega yacht? 🛳⛵⛴ So first let us get it out of the way- legally, there are no such definitions. Every yacht over 24 meters is considered a “Large yacht” by maritime law. But, we like it to be glamorous, so we invented different terms. Here is a quick overview of the common definitions: “WHITE BOAT” Refers to yachts>24 meters. You might have heard that term, although it's not as common. This definition is meant to separate the Commercial work boats (Such as oil/gas rigs, merchant, and even cruise ships) from the “White boats” which consist of the Super yachts or Mega yachts that are meant for private or commercial pleasure. “SUPER YACHT” Refers to yachts between 24 meters (78’) to 60 meter (198’) in length. The Superyachts world varies in different shapes and sizes but consists of paid professional crew, and in use for private or commercial pleasure operations. Usually for 6 to 12 guests. “MEGA YACHT” Refer to yachts > 60 meter. Custom made and costs tens or hundred of millions. They usually accommodate more than 12 guests and dozens of crew members. The biggest of them employ more than 40 crew members on board! Seazone Refers to a yacht management software that offers a unique approach to the daily yacht operation. Expense management, docs and certificates and even free crew search. Let our experience and technology work for you. Try SEAZONE www.seazone.app

Deloitte study points to the strategic importance of Yachting to Italy. 🇮🇹 But the reputation and public perception of yachting needs to be improved it’s too often associated with the click bait of corruption and scandal. It’s engineering excellence, craftsmanship and jobs need to be promoted instead. In fact it’s the best mechanism possible at transferring wealth back into the onshore economy. The industry wants to increase the attractiveness of Italian registration for yachts, bringing VAT IVA TVA value added tax rates for chartering in line with hotels and simplifying bureaucratic procedures in areas such as checks on crew recruitment. How can we communicate our industry benefits better to the public how else can we ensure the Yachts continue to spend their money here in Italy rather than going elsewhere. Do we need to change our marketing, improve our KYC on clients, improve our codes of ethics? #Yachting #Italy #Dolcevita #Italian #Shipyards #Superyacht #Superyachts #Sailing #Boating #Yacht #Marine #Ships
