Challenge Three: John O’Groats to Lands End AKA - JOGLE, my third challenge, is starting on Tuesday 30th July! I’ve pulled it forward (for those eagle eyed observers) I’d planned on doing it in September. Truth is, I’m praying for fair weather. Either way - the hotels are booked and my stops are all planned out! I realised the lifelong ambition of learning to ride a motorcycle just after my 50th birthday – but here’s the thing – I am not a confident rider. I fall off a fair amount. And it hurts much more at 51 than it would have done at 18. The most I have ridden in one day is 120 miles and that took me around 8 hours. 🛵 Lands End to John O’Groats is 847 miles. 🛵 My aim is to complete the challenge in 36 hours. 🛵 That means I’ve got to do 300 miles a day - let’s see how that goes! I am sure I will cross paths with, and share the company of, fellow riders along the way. But I personally will do the whole 847 miles. Help me hit my £10,000 fundraising target - to ensure The Myton Hospices can continue to provide their invaluable support services, both to those at the end of their life and their families and carers: https://lnkd.in/d5F-pYAu There’s got to be a whole load of ideas for a sweepstake here, I am sure! 🐎 How many extra miles I do because I get lost… 🐎 How many traffic lights I have to stop at 🤷…. 🐎 How long it takes my butt to recover… 🐎 How many times I swear… Let me know what you think of my route in the comments below! Could you take on an 847 miles challenge? #challengeclare #securityservices #fundraisingtarget #10000k #stonewallsecurity #securitys111 #rugbybusiness #failfast Stonewall Group Ltd #businesssuccess #clarescountdown #johnogroats #landsend #johnogroatstolandsend #solorride #rideforcharity #learningtorideamotorcycle #pushedtothelimit

Two sides to every story. Yeah, I had fun skating last night. Getting there though? Whole other story. Got on the train like usual. MTR Elizabeth line. They called ahead to let them know I was coming, needed assistance. Arrived… no one there. Running late now. Sped (as fast as I could, anyway) to the lift and used the info button. Explained no one had met me. Turns out the superiors had told the staff member I was coming, but… nothing. Eventually someone showed up, I went up in the lift. "Excuse me, sir, would you like to report this?" Transport for London. Absolutely I would. Discrimination, round one. Round two? Taxi rank outside Selfridges. I can usually get into those taxis in my chair. First driver, ramp’s not working. Second driver, tells me I need to be on a different part of the road for the ramp. I get it, but I’ve been picked up from this exact spot before. He’s explaining it to me like I’m a child. "Yes, I understand, but I've gotten on here before." We're going nowhere, so I let him go. Take his taxi number to report later. Just an assumption, but I don't think he cared much. Third driver's furious. "I would've told him to F off if he didn't want to take you! You should've told me earlier!" I was trying to get to skating on time. Just made it. That’s the reality of having a disability. The constant fight for basic access. Wait. There is more. I got back to the station later that evening. ‘Were you the individual who was left on the platform?’ Yes I was. He apologised so I said thank you. It takes a lot to admit that to someone. All he wanted to do was to his job right. He has helped me before, so he's not a bad guy. I said thank you... next time do better. #Discrimination #Accessibility #PublicTransport #Disability #Reality

Last night I had one of the most thrilling Wednesday night skates yet! Being pushed all the way from Hyde Park to Ladbroke Grove and back again at some intense speeds! (It honestly took me down memory lane of my first ever night skate which was to and from the same place but this one was totally different). Was probably the fastest night skate we've ever done yet! The thrill of having the wind blowing through my hair (even with a helmet on) was absolutely amazing! Which leads me on to an exciting note, I’ve been so busy lately that I haven't had the chance to officially share this with you all: at the end of August, Wheels and Wheelchairs will be embarking on an epic journey from Brighton to Paris! This is the first time I'm mentioning this incredible challenge here, and I promise to share more on how it all came about and what this means to me. For now, if you're interested in supporting us and learning a little more, you can find additional information at my fundraising link: Brighton to Paris Fundraiser. https://lnkd.in/eX3j-h6v Your support means we are able to continue to push boundaries and achieve great things together. A big thank you to the marshals who kept us safe during the night skate. Your dedication and hard work are truly appreciated! #Disability #BrightonToParis #Fundraiser #Community #Wheelchair ID: Isaac is in his custom made wheelchair where he has just reached half time for what was an epic Wednesday night skate. He's wearing a helmet and smiling, his chair is bright green with an extra set of wheels attached to the front. His companion who is also a machine, Kevin, are ready to set off on their rollerblades. They are in a concrete space with a graffiti art wall behind them. There's an individual sat on the floor looking away from the camera as if she's been sent to detention, wearing a blue jacket and has blonde hair. There are a few bags on the floor and you can see buildings just above the graffiti and oh look there is a tree.

Happy National Rivers Month! Ways to Celebrate: 🛶 Enjoy a local river - maybe try a new water sport like canoeing or paddle boarding. Practice meditation or mindful movement by a river. These activities will do wonders for your mental and physical health! 🗑️ Do a cleanup - be a river steward by participating in or leading a cleanup. Remember to bring trash bags, and use work gloves to protect your hands from sharp and dirty items. 👥 Organize a meetup - arrange an event to celebrate your local river with friends and community members. Try something simple like hosting your next book club meeting by the river. Expand your reach by contacting a local environmental non-profit or rowing club to collaborate on a river-focused event. 📑 Research local river heritage - this month is a great time to learn about the history of your local river. How was it used by indigenous people, and how did these uses evolve through today? #nationalriversmonth #riverheritage #rivers #riverconservation #stewardship

Strategic Technical Leader with the ability to facilitate efficient processes and drive performance improvements through technical solutions. xApple, xBox | Techstars Mentor
Becoming Techstars mentor this year has introduced me to some inspiring founders, including Elya Lane of Corra Health, who's developing an AI-powered health assistant. Elya is developing an AI-powered health assistant, drawing from her personal experiences. She's currently fundraising for a new service animal to support her as she builds her company. If you're passionate about backing innovative founders and their projects, consider contributing to Elya's fundraiser. I have always loved the outdoors, and have been fortunate to grow up in Colorado with ample access to trails and remote places. Recreating outside has always been a way for me to escape the stresses of life, clear my head, and have fun with friends. Biking, hiking, backpacking, and exploring the wilderness are my favorite ways to get outside. I am fortunate to work for a brand, Smartwool, that shares my values and actively supports organizations like Big City Mountaineers to actively protect the places we love to explore and encourage the next and more diverse generations of outdoor enthusiasts. Big City Mountaineers goal is to break down barriers to outdoor access for students from disinvested communities. By providing free, fully-outfitted, and professionally-led backcountry trips, we’re able to give young people ages 8-18 the opportunity to connect with nature and reconnect with their strengths, skills, and resilience. This September, my coworkers and I are hiking of one of Colorado's 14,000-foot peaks while we raise money for Big City Mountaineers. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support BCM's mission! If this resonates with you, I'd be thrilled to have your support in one of two ways: 1. Financial contributions to my page through this link, any amount is helpful! https://lnkd.in/gkHV-reZ 2. Liking, commenting on, or sharing this post so that it can reach more people.

As our namesake, the Charles River inspires us daily — and the Head of the Charles Regatta is no exception! Here are five lessons we learned from watching this remarkable event: 1) Every crew member counts: Although the members within a boat have different responsibilities, it’s through working together that they can push towards the finish line. 2) Stand out with your brand: How could we spot our favorite teams on the water? By their eye-catching uniforms and boats. Just like in our industry, brand design matters! 3) Use your success to uplift others: Many rowers fundraise to support a charity of their choice, and their commitment made every stroke matter that much more. 4) Foster inclusivity: The Head of the Charles invites a wide range of ages and abilities to participate, and it’s through this openness that they have been able to build a strong sense of community and inclusivity. 5) Be prepared: Each rower’s performance on the river was the result of their endless hard work and dedication. Even when results aren’t immediate, daily commitment pays off. #HeadoftheCharles #HOTC #CharlesRiver

We’re proud to be a Certified B Corporation, which means our business implements practices and promotes policies that benefit people and planet. We hire local talent, volunteer company time for community service, and donate at least 5% of yearly profits to one or more North Carolina-based 501(c)3 nonprofits. Here are some ways we demonstrate our B Corp values: Supporting working families and their children, as evidenced by our Family Forward NC certified employer designation. Implementing an equitable pay structure across the organization. Intentionally partnering with mission-aligned organizations to advance each other’s work. Using the Kolbe Index to acknowledge and value one another’s differences in ways of thinking and doing. Minimizing carbon emissions through an eco-friendly hosting solution and sustainable design practices. B Corp businesses are always on the move, looking for new ways to improve their impact – even after they’ve been certified. And these actions all add up. #BCorpMonth #UnityMakesUs #UnityWebAgency #WebAccessibility #DisabilityAdvocacy [ID: Alisa, Andy, Bud, and Angela are skating at an indoor roller skating rink. Authentic encouragement for leaders. Dad. Grandpa. Head Coach & CEO at SEMO Electric Cooperative & GoSEMO Fiber. Keynote Speaker. Founder of The Friday Feature - watch each Friday.
🌟 Welcome to Week #219 of The Friday Feature - Giving Back! 🌟 This past week has shown the incredible power of community in the face of adversity. Our area was hit hard by two severe thunderstorms within just 12 hours, one of which included tornadoes with an EF-3 rating. Despite multiple-day power outages, first responders, utility workers, business owners, and community members all came together, demonstrating remarkable resilience and unity. At work, I witnessed an inspiring spirit of cooperation as co-workers and strangers pulled together for a common cause, working tirelessly to restore power to thousands of homes, farms, and businesses. This sense of community and support has truly highlighted the importance of giving back, which I will be doing tomorrow by joining friends and new acquaintances on the golf course to support 18ForeLife. I don't play golf often, but this event is special – 18ForeLife donates every penny raised to local families battling cancer, providing $1,000 "love offerings" with no questions asked. To date, the organization has given away over $3 million! 👉 If you're reading this or watching the video, remember that each of us has the power to help someone else. Sometimes it's as simple as a wave, a smile, or a pat on the back. If you're fortunate enough to make a financial contribution, I encourage you to find a cause that speaks to you and give today. Let's celebrate our blessings by being a blessing to others. 🌟 https://lnkd.in/gCM_RKZa #GivingBack #Community #18ForeLife #Blessings #Support #TogetherWeCan #KeepPushingForward and #LeadWithYourHeart
