Is age correlated with ability? A great reminder that this often isn't the case 🙌 As a young person, I often have to check my thinking and remind myself that age often isn't correlated with ability. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that "No one will want to listen to me because I don't have any life experience" or "I'm not old enough to be successful in this". Do you catch yourself thinking thoughts like these? Well, my limiting beliefs were certainly proven wrong at the at the Western Australian 7News Young Achiever Awards. From sporting talent to innovative young entrepreneurs to voices campaigning for change, I felt so proud of every nominee who is unapologetically kicking goals in their respective field. At the event, I had the privilege of sitting next to Tayla Taseff, a confident, capable and passionate disability advocate. Tayla is a young person living with Cerebral Palsy who is making waves as the Co-Chair of the Disability Inclusion and Access Group at the Perth Children's Hospital as well as volunteering for more causes than I can count. Tayla is certainly one to watch. It was fantastic to be nominated in the Department of Communities Young Women Leader Award and be presented with my certificate by the Hon Hannah Beazley, Minister for Youth. However, nothing will top the sense of awe I felt listening to and celebrating the successes of these impressive young people. Congratulations to all the nominees and award winners! #youngpeople #youngleaders #awards #awardsaustralia #leadership #womeninleadership

#6 Top Team Units Closed 2023 | 2022 REALTOR® of the Year, Atlanta REALTORS® Association | Atlanta Business Chronicle Woman of Influence | Atlanta Business League Woman of Influence | Developer, Housing Advocate
The fabric of our society is rich and varied, much like a kaleidoscopic tapestry woven with threads of countless hues. It's within our power—and indeed, our responsibility—to ensure this tapestry continues to shine for future generations. That’s why I want to share my latest thoughts on something close to my heart: raising children to be inclusive-minded individuals who not only respect but celebrate diversity. Instilling these values early on lays the cornerstone for a world where Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) aren't just buzzwords, but lived experiences. It's about more than just teaching tolerance; it's about nurturing understanding and empathy, enabling our kids to appreciate the beauty in every strand of our diverse human fabric. Imagine if every child could see the world through a #RainbowOfCultures lens! From their innocent eyes, they would discern the value in every shade and tone that makes up humanity’s vast spectrum. For those who are interested in how we can collectively contribute to this vibrant future, I invite you to read more about my thoughts on this subject. Together, let's foster an environment where every child feels welcomed, valued, and understood. Let’s create an inclusive future today. To read more about how we can champion DEI from the playground up, click here 👉 https://lnkd.in/etm3WsF5 #Diversity #Inclusion #DEI 🎨🌟

Allyship emerges as a powerful tool for cultivating inclusivity and equity. The breakdown of DEI programmes disproportionately impacts underrepresented groups, making allyship vital. It's not enough to merely acknowledge disparities; action is needed. As allies, it's incumbent upon us to amplify the voices of those who lack platforms, to challenge biases, and to advocate for systemic change. Whether through mentorship, the amplification of marginalised voices, or advocating for inclusive policies, allyship can catalyse meaningful change. #DEI #Allyship #Inclusion #SocialJustice

🌟 Reflecting on today's discussions: Bias tests and microaggressions ahead of the International Day Against Racism and Discrimination 🌍 Today, our team engaged in a conversation about bias tests, revealing surprising insights. We discovered that sometimes our perceptions don't align with reality, prompting us to rethink our assumptions and biases. In addition, we explored the importance of recognizing and addressing microaggressions and our own prejudices. Here are some key takeaways: 🔍 Navigating Intrusive Behaviors: What may seem like friendly gestures can sometimes be intrusive and uncomfortable for others. From touching hair to asking about origins, it's crucial to respect boundaries and avoid tokenizing diversity. 🦟 Understanding Microaggressions: Microaggressions are like mosquito bites—they may seem small, but repeated exposure can lead to significant discomfort. Let's strive to be mindful of our words and actions, recognizing that not everyone experiences the same level of unsolicited remarks. 💭 Challenging Unconscious Biases: In stressful situations, our unconscious biases may surface, leading to unfair perceptions of others. It's essential to confront these ingrained associations and actively work towards dismantling discriminatory attitudes. 🎓It starts at school: Discrimination often starts in schools through biases in opportunities, discipline, and representation. These disparities can hinder students' academic success and career paths, contributing to a lack of diversity in certain professions. Tackling discrimination in education is vital for fostering inclusivity and promoting diversity in all fields. 📚 Recommended Reading: "Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor" was suggested as a resource for deepening our understanding of racism and biases, urging us to confront uncomfortable truths and drive meaningful change. As we approach the International Day Against Racism and Discrimination, let's commit to continuous learning, challenging our assumptions, and fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect. Together, we can create a brighter, more equitable future. #EndRacism #InclusionMatters #WIFChallenge #BelfiusWIFC Roxane Van Lerberge Loïc Hannard Sarah Fialon Catherine Dick Aude de Dorlodot Valentin Vandorpe Florence Renard DIDIER SIMAL Marie André Romane Snickers Valérie Limpens Timothy Abraham

⚖️ Today World Day of Social Justice, which is observed on February 20 every year, aims to offer a platform to raise voices against injustice around the globe. ⚖️ 📣 Today more than ever we need to come together to push back on discrimination, inequality and gen0cide. We must work together with our children and young people to promote fairness and a world where all people matter regardless of identity, race or circumstance.📣 👇🏻 Here are six key points to highlight why social justice is important in such a context: 💭Promotes Inclusivity Social justice encourages inclusivity by celebrating and embracing differences in race, ethnicity, gender, abilities, and more. 💭Builds Empathy By exposing children to characters facing social justice issues, they can better relate to and appreciate the challenges faced by individuals from various backgrounds. 💭Teaches Fairness and Equality Social justice stories can convey the importance of fairness and equality, emphasizing that everyone deserves equal opportunities and treatment. 💭Cultivates Critical Thinking Children's stories about social justice can stimulate critical thinking skills by encouraging them to question stereotypes and biases. 💭Inspires Activism Children are natural advocates for what they believe is right. Social justice storytelling can inspire them to become agents of positive change. 💜 Incorporating these points into your children's learning can contribute to fostering a generation that values social justice and works towards a more equitable and inclusive society.💜 📖 Check out our children’s books on social justice throughout the week! What is your favourite? 📖

10 REASONS YOUR STAFF MAY BE RESISTANT TO INCLUSION 😫😫😫 1. The momentum of the same- comfort is on the side of keeping things the way they are 2. We live in ableist systems that perpetuates exclusionary mindsets and practices 3. They think inclusion it is an add-on initiative, a program, or something they can choose to do or not do 4. They feel overwhelmed and under supported to try something new or different 5. They are still not sure of “the why” behind becoming an inclusive school 6. They need a clear roadmap of where they are going and what will happen along the way 7. They need incentives and support to make change 8. They don’t want to feel unsuccessful trying something new 9. They do not believe it is their responsibility (“that is special ed’s job”) 10. They need a clear vision #InclusionRevolution #AbleismAwareness #ChangeMakers #InclusiveEducation #BeyondPrograms #RedefineInclusion #RoadmapToChange #SupportForChange #WhyInclusionMatters #IncentivizeInclusion #inclusionforall #inclusionmatters #educators #schooladministrators
