Community membership and collaborative learning Community building is vital to active student engagement across all modalities. When students become part of an academic community, share common goals, get emotional, social, and cognitive support from one another, where they can engage in dialogue and reflect more actively and invariably take ownership and responsibility of their own learning. Community membership also helps you invest, contribute and sponsor the betterment of the lives of people. Teesside University afforded me the privilege to give back and express the communal spirit I carry. In the light of this honour granted I would love to share some tips on how to build a strong and functional community among your colleagues: 1. Define your Community Identity A community usually consists of people from different countries and races. They often have different demographics and backgrounds. So, when building a strong member community, start with creating a community identity. 2. Set a Clear Vision and Mission That being said, create clear and concise vision and mission statements. That should guide the overall purpose and sense of direction for the community. 3. Get Everyone Involved This is the most crucial step. Getting everyone involved carves a sense of belongingness among your community members. Encouraging members to participate in community activities and initiatives makes them feel valued and connected to the community. That leads to a solid member community. 4. Ensure Clear Communication and Constant Collaboration Effective communication is almost always the key to a successful organization. By creating open lines of communication and promoting constant collaboration, your members can work together towards shared goals and avoid misunderstandings and conflicts. . 5. Conduct Regular Activities and Events Webinars and workshops, Volunteer activities, Networking events Host educational events with industry-specific topics. Doing so will help your members develop their skills and keep up with industry trends. #TeessideUniversity #CollaborativeLearning #CommunityMember #Leadership #TeamSpirit #EducationStudentSociety .

This exchange of knowledge enhances education, promotes innovation, and expands the boundaries of human understanding. By sharing knowledge, individuals can bridge gaps in understanding, promote empathy, and foster social cohesion. It enables individuals to learn from one another, challenge existing ideas, and collectively tackle complex problems. Moreover, sharing knowledge ensures that advancements and discoveries are not confined to a select few but are accessible to all, promoting equal opportunities for intellectual growth and development. Melinda French Gates: “Decades of research on economics, well-being and governance make it clear that investing in women and girls benefits everyone. We know that economies with women’s full participation have room to grow. That women’s political participation is associated with decreased corruption. That peace agreements are more durable when women are involved in writing them.” Confident girls change the world. All girls education drives girls' confidence.
