Vaccine Manufacturing Preparedness & Strategy, Health Security, Biosecurity. Splitting time between the US and South Africa.
Microneedle patches for vaccine delivery have dose-sparing potential, can be self-administered, and may reduce our dependence on cold chains.... meaning we can deliver more vaccines to more people, faster! #projectnextgen #vaccines #pandemicreadiness #pandemicpreparedness
There’s only two days left to submit a concept paper for the #PatchForwardPrize, a $50 million #ProjectNextGen competition to advance microneedle patch-based RNA #vaccines for #COVID19, seasonal #flu, and pandemic flu. Vaccine developers and patch makers are encouraged to partner and accelerate new #vaccine technologies. Concept papers should detail respective technologies, which includes the proposed vaccine and delivery product, and plans for development and functional testing. Concept papers are due no later than October 3, 2024, 4:59 p.m. ET. Get started on your submission here: https://ow.ly/7iU250SYTl6

Great work by James Edgar and the team! Good to see how the small world of #extracellularvesicles is expanding day by day. As a student who works on these small extracellular vesicles, I can imagine the contribution of this in bridging the knowledge gap of EV research and its application. #exosomes #vaccine #bioengineering
Small EVs as a multi-subunit vaccine: Hannah Kate Jackson, PhD, James Edgar and collaborators developed cell lines that were modified to produce small extracellular vesicles containing either the receptor-binding domain of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein, an antigenic region from the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid, or a combination of both. Their efficiency was subsequently tested in a murine model, with results indicating the strong potential of engineered EVs as an alternative platform for vaccine development https://lnkd.in/eeuurCem also authored by Heather Long, Juan Carlos Yam-Puc, Roberta Palmulli, Tracey A. In about a month, the World Vaccine Congress will be starting in Washington. Coriolis Pharma will be participating as an exhibitor with Evelyn Eggenstein and me being onsite. 🛎 If you are in the development or production of vaccines 💉, make sure to stop by and learn about our possibilities to support you: - Analytical characterization of #vaccine products (e.g., low concentration products, antigen-adjuvant combination products) - Evaluation of a possible interaction between the #antigen and #adjuvant - Stabilization of your vaccine product by #lyophilization (thermostability, avoiding cold chain) - #GMP release testing - #GMP stability studies

2024 updated World Health Organization Bacterial pathogens of public health importance to guide research, development and strategies to prevent and control antimicrobial resistance. At IMMUNETHEP, we are developing vaccines and monoclonal antibodies that will fight some of the pathogens in this list. We have very promissing preclinical results with our PNV vaccine that will soon enter clinical trials. The bacterial virulence mechanism that we target is shared by multiple bacteria and our approach might be applicable to more species in this list. #immunethep #vaccines #monoclonalantibodies #amr #antibioticresistance

🦠💉 The advent of mRNA vaccines for SARS-CoV-2 marks a groundbreaking leap in #vaccine technology. However, some experts are waving a caution flag about possible side effects on our gut microbiota (GM). 🧫 The preprint by Dr Mark Fabrowski, Dr. Carlo Brogna and colleagues proposes an experimental protocol to test this hypothesis, aiming to uncover any hidden impacts on our gut microbiome. https://lnkd.in/g6k4gjvf #Microbiome #mRNAVaccines #GutHealth #SARSCoV2
