Introducing the new #Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission (Y-AMT) on the MT-09: the seamless fusion of technology and performance. This new dimension of the Dark Side of Japan allows the rider to choose between a sporty and slick finger-operated shift (Manual Transmission, MT) or a fully Automatic Transmission (AT). The MT setting makes each shift fast and precise thanks to the touch of a see-saw lever on the left handlebar, enhancing the excitement and adrenaline in the sportiest of riding conditions. The AT setting further simplifies the shifting experience, with two options to suit different riding scenarios: D+ for a more spirited and sporty ride, D for a more confidence-inspiring gear shift experience. What a great technology to get more people into the sport! Removing the clutch fear will hopefully make motorcycles more appealing to new riders and easier to concentrate purely on riding.
After Toprak's experience in superbike racing, my interest in Yamaha waned drastically. I hope you have been self-critical.
MT-09 make metro ride so nice. However, I like retro version XSR-900.
Igor Ferreira look this perfection...🔥
Yamaha's approach is brilliant. It'll not only bring more people to motorbikes, but enable more current riders to ride more and ride longer. 50 years ago when I started street riding I never thought I'd put so many miles on, and certainly not in the sprawling, densely packed urban roadways that challenged both my patience and my aching left hand. Constantly slipping the clutch during a two-hour slog through LA at peak traffic is not fun. With the Y-AMT in AT, it's handled. But, break through to the Angeles Crest, and a quick flip to MT makes that a distant memory! Let's see if this will show up on what I hope will soon be the replacement for the Super Tenere. I'm first in line!
