Did you know? On January 27, 1924, the film industry was abuzz with discussions about the potential impact of radio on cinema. An article from that day highlighted the industry’s concerns that the burgeoning “radio craze” might lure audiences away from movie theaters. This apprehension foreshadowed future challenges, such as the rise of television in the 1950s. Interestingly, rather than viewing radio solely as a competitor, some studios began to see its potential for collaboration. By 1925, Warner Brothers had acquired a Los Angeles radio station, KFWB, marking the first instance of a Hollywood studio owning a radio station. This move not only provided a platform to promote their films but also paved the way for innovations like synchronized sound in movies. This period underscored the industry’s adaptability and foresight in integrating emerging technologies to enhance cinematic experiences. #CinemaHistory #FilmIndustry #RadioAndFilm #WarnerBrothers #InnovationInFilm

More outstanding work from the Georgia Screen Entertainment Coalition and the Georgia Film Office! 🎥Two years as number one state in the country for film and television production 🎥273 productions in FY24 🎥$2.6 in economic spend across Georgia GSEC Executive Director Kelsey Moore said: "The film industry continues to send a clear sign that Georgia is an important destination for film and television production, reliably turning to our robust infrastructure, top-quality crew and state’s stable tax incentive and, in turn, creating opportunities for Georgians around the state. "We’re seeing direct spending by the film industry reflect the industry’s adjustment to new norms. Industry strikes halted work in Georgia and everywhere else last year, yet productions still sent $2.6 billion flowing into Georgia’s economy. That fueled thousands of jobs and significant economic impact on businesses and communities across the state. "Like any industry, film contends with market realities. The fact that 273 productions came to Georgia in FY2024 — when the industry was shut down for nearly six months — is a strong indicator that film production continues to be a significant economic success story for the state. "Georgia’s turnkey operation for productions is the envy of other markets around the country — and the world. In just 15 years, Georgia has cemented its reputation as a globally recognized production hub, competing handily with traditional production hubs in Los Angeles and New York and beyond."
The film and entertainment industry drives growth opportunities across the state. Read how Georgia’s strategic planning has set the stage for a bright future. https://bit.ly/3WL4xJ1
