Are AI features becoming the new banner ads? It feels like we're getting bombarded with AI just like the old banner ads we learned to ignore. Do you think we're heading that way with AI too? From IG to LinkedIn to Notion…Every app under the sun seem to now have a “new AI feature”. But really, who’s actually using them? Are these updates truly enhancing our experience, or are they just flashy attempts to appease investors? Take that "Ask AI anything..." search bar. Sounds handy, right? But in reality, these features can make simple tasks way more complicated (just try the IG integration and you’ll see what I mean). I fail to understand how these AI integrations are making our lives easier. #uiuxdesign #ux #ui #productdesign #design #graphicdesigners #designhumor #humour #memes #ai #metaai #meta

Completely agree! They’ve made something as “simple” as a search function way too complex and confusing. The results that populate are also confusing (specifically in Meta’s case) leading one down a path they weren’t necessarily intending to go down.

Meta clearly has an award for worst integration. Who thought it would be a good idea to replace the search icon with this?

I believe it's a mix of investor pressure, combined with FOMO. "The future is now and we're late". We don't have access to any of their metrics. Maybe it's much more used than we think 🤷
