I see a lot of people complaining that Unity Pro is required to develop VisionOS apps. First, please, Unity is not the response to everything, it's a bad strategy to use/know only one technology. Also, there are alternatives! I recommand you to give it a try to Xcode + Realty Composer Pro because it's great and was a nice surprise for me. RCP is like a lightweight Unity version where you can create scenes, add scripts, sounds, animations, etc.. Scripts are made using Swift and it's ECS behind it by default! The ease of Unity and the power of a native language. Finally, Unreal Engine is adding VisionOS support! You can try it, even if it's still early, by compiling the ue5-main branch on a Mac. Behind the scene Unreal translates the VisionOS API to OpenXR! On the developer side, making an app is just like creating another OpenXR app! No need for (too much) custom code! And you can do that with Blueprints or C++. Also, don't forget that WebGL/XR based apps are working on VisionOS too. So leave Unity a moment and look around you, it's not so bad :) #VisionOS #Unreal #UE5 #WebXR #WebGL #!Unity
still very early early early for this but I'm excited to see what I can get working in device at end of month. I’ve learned so many dumb Mac lessons the past couple weeks to get to this point and really hope it all pays off !
