The European Commission's proposal to impose tariffs on fertilizer imports from Belarus and Russia is a step in the right direction, but much more is needed. Since 2022, imports of Russian #fertilizers have skyrocketed, yet the EU's response remains slow. The extended phase-in period as proposed would delay real solutions, leaving Europe increasingly dependent on Russia and indirectly funding their war efforts. This lack of ambition jeopardizes Europe's domestic fertilizer production, food security, and strategic autonomy. We call on the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union to step up and deliver a faster, more effective response.
