Upon the advent of GNU, we not have dissected and analysed how various parties employed different approaches and leadership styles towards reconstituting 7th Administration. Some employed transactional leadership at their own peril hence their exclusion from broad discussion about formulation of government and legislative arms thus finding themselves in the lurch in broad terms. Some chose laissez faire leadership and boycotted the first sitting of Parliament to the detriment of their constituents. Some chose democratic leadership hence they embraced GNU with the understanding and comprehension of electoral outcomes which directed them to united the nation without outright winner but recognise each other strength and compliment each other for the sake of the nation. Just wonder which leadership style will the President (prerogative)choose when he constitutes Cabinet under the GNU system. Will he use servant leadership or democratic leadership (consultative in approach since it is a backbone of GNU) or will he use Autocratic leadership with the understanding that it is the President’s prerogative? After Cabinet appointments and National Assembly elections of chairpersons of various committees, we should explore which management style will be appropriate under GNU in particular for Senior Management of Institutions of Democracy?
What kind of Leadership style will be appropriate to negotiate coalitions across the country given the election outcomes? Which of the following will you opt for and why so: transforma-tional, transactional, autocratic, laissez-faire, charismatic, servant, democratic and pace-setting leadership?

What's a bit like an elephant – easy to recognise but hard to describe? 🐘 Great leadership. If you believe social media you’d think the answer to this 'great leadership' lies in some of the aspirational posts scattered across our timelines. We've all heard them.... 💭“You learn more from failure than success.” 💭 “You are never too big to stop learning.” 💭 “Great leaders create more great leaders.” To some extent, there's truth in all of those, however (and perhaps our managing partner Neil Lloyd knows this more than many) running a business is a lot more complicated than that! If you'd like a little more insight into what it takes to run one of the Midlands’ most successful law firms, Neil has been examining some of the lessons he has learned over recent years and what's on the horizon for FBCMB. Current stalemate in the GNU suggest that Situational Leadership Model dominates the negotiations. This leadership style work on the assumption that the most effective style of leadership changes from situation to situation. For leaders to be effective they must be able to adapt their style and approach to diverse circumstances. Daily updates through media leaks suggest that trust bar is too low amongst two key role players in the GNU hence inevitably communication breakdown. For example, some organisations function better under a leader who is more autocratic and directive. For others, success will be more likely if the leader can step back and trust his team to make decisions and carry out plans without the leader’s direct involvement. On a similar note, not all types of political organisations in the GNU settings require the same skills and leadership traits in equal measure. Some fields demand a large measure of innovation, whereas in others, personal charisma and relational connection with society or electorate are far more important. Situational Leadership approach to leadership suggests the need to match two key elements appropriately: the leader’s leadership style and the followers’ (electorate)maturity or preparedness levels. Judge for yourself as to who has best interest of South Africa based on the latest developments on GNU and whether the dominant leadership style is the correct approach or not????????
