Ramadan is ending, what’s next? 🌙✨ Your Muslim clients, colleagues, and employees will be celebrating the Muslim holiday called Eid! What is Eid? Eid (al-Fitr) is one of the two major Muslim holiday celebrations, where Muslims gather with friends, family, and community members. Eid al-Fitr (Arabic) translates to “festival of breaking the fast,” which is exactly as it sounds—it commemorates the end of the holy month of Ramadan. When is Eid? We are not sure, but we know it will be the day after the last day of Ramadan. This year, it will either fall on Tuesday, April 9th, or Wednesday, April 10th—depending on the moon sighting which will indicate if Ramadan is 29 or 30 days this year. For this reason, some might celebrate one day and others the second day. When will we know? As mentioned, we are all anticipating the announcement of the arrival of Eid depending on the moon sighting. Request? Your Muslim clients, colleagues, and employees will likely observe this holiday and request time off. Consider flexibility and understanding when they submit their time-off request as we are waiting to find out as well if it will be Tuesday, 4/9, or Wednesday, 4/10. Celebrate? You are welcome to join in celebrating even if you did not fast for Ramadan. Eid greeting? You can say “Eid Mubarak” meaning “Blessed Eid” or simply “Happy Eid.” Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating! #DiversityandInclusion #Ramadan #CulturalAwareness #Eid

We’re wishing Ramadan Mubarak to all our Muslim staff and followers. ☪️ We love having employees from all different walks of life. Different points of views, life experiences and abilities make us all the more stronger and well rounded. ⭕ That’s one of the many reasons why we’re pleased to offer a religious holiday swap scheme. We hope it’ll benefit employees who wish to observe a religious holiday that does not coincide with the Easter public holidays. They can swap their days off for a holiday that aligns with their religious beliefs. Like exchanging Good Friday for Eid-al-Fitr! We also have meeting rooms available in our new office that can be booked for prayer. Here are some things to keep in mind during Ramadan, says our product owner Laurie Mahmood Assoc CIPD: 🗣️ “Many of your Muslim colleagues will be running on limited sleep and energy during this month. Please be considerate of them during this time. 🗣️ “If you have an important meeting try arranging this earlier in the day when concentration levels are highest. Please don’t be offended if your colleagues are reluctant to join a working lunch (no one minds people eating in front of them but it’s tough). Lunchtime is a good time for rest and also time for the afternoon prayer. 🗣️ “You may also find that your Muslim colleagues will not want to commit to evening events during Ramadan. Evenings are devoted to eating, prayer and gatherings with family, friends and the community.” Tag someone to wish them Ramadan Mubarak. #Ciphr #Ramadan #DiversityAndInclusion

For me, Lohri is a time of acknowledging the abundance in our lives. As a Punjabi, I know it through sitting in the neighborhood community around the bonfire, talking, laughing, exchanging pleasantries, praying for prosperity, as we make offerings of moongphali, gajak, revadi, and popcorn to the burning embers. The bonfire symbolically salutes the sun—a symbol of plenty; it gives us all we need. Fire blesses our desire for a good life on the one hand; and destroys unwanted obstacles on the other. Through the country, we celebrate abundance (harvest) and the sun's northward journey into Makara (Capricorn) raashi (zodiac sign) through: Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Magh Bihu and Pongal (which fall on January 13th, 14th and 15th respectively). The first crop yield during the New Year is a matter of joy and success. It is the beginning of sunny days— the end of winter and the welcome of spring, the arrival of warmer weather because after Makar Sankranti, a day after Lohri, the nights get shorter, and the days get longer. It’s a reminder to offer gratitude to what has gone well. To welcome a new start. As the new leaves start sprouting after a period of dormancy. Is there something you are feeling an upsurge of energy to start anew? Here’s wishing you abundance…meeting limited circumstances with unlimited thoughts. What is your definition of abundance? (Photographers Pierre Javelle and Akiko Ida take inspiration from the beauty of food to create MINIMIAM, transforming ordinary food into new worlds) #emotionalintelligence #positiveintelligence #growthmindset
