I recently published an article titled "Social participation among individuals with depression is associated with the use of informal healthcare facilities: findings from the Indonesian family life survey-5" in one of the renowned international journal: Current Psychology Springer Journal. Social participation is associated with the health-seeking behaviour to obtain treatment in formal and informal health facilities. However, this association among patients with depression is unknown. Hence, this study was conducted to assess the association between social participation and the use of healthcare facilities by individuals with depression in Indonesia. This study comprised a cross-sectional survey using data from the 2014 Indonesian Family Life Survey. Social participation, the use of healthcare facilities, and sociodemographic information were evaluated using self-reported data. The rising number of euthanasia cases reflects a growing societal acceptance of this practice in the Netherlands. It indicates a willingness to consider euthanasia as a legitimate end-of-life option for terminally ill or suffering individuals who meet the legal criteria. The story of Zoraya serves as a stark reminder of the immense challenges individuals with severe mental illness can face. It highlights the depths of despair and hopelessness that can accompany these conditions. As mental health professionals Cadabams Hospitals, we want to emphasize that euthanasia is not the only answer. There is immense hope for those struggling. Early intervention is crucial. The sooner a diagnosis is made and treatment begins, the better the chance of achieving significant improvement and even recovery. Our effective treatment plans often combine medication, therapy, and other support systems tailored to the individual's needs. These approaches can equip individuals with the tools to manage their symptoms and build a fulfilling life. If you or your loved ones are struggling, we urge you to reach out to us for help and support. #EndOfLifeOption #SocietalAcceptance #TerminallyIll #LegalCriteria #GrowingAcceptance #EthicalDilemma #Cadabams

In an interview with The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad I discussed the recent amendments to drug laws in Malaysia with colleagues Sangeet Deo, Palani Narayanan, and Samantha Chong. Our conversation highlighted the urgent need to decriminalise substance use and treat substance use disorders as manageable and treatable disease. It's crucial to recognise that substance use varies across a spectrum, requiring different levels of interventions, from brief counselling to residential treatment. Punitive measures may suspend substance use temporarily, but #recovery involves developing new coping mechanisms and leading a fulfilling life without substances. Such transformation thrives in a supportive, community-based environment with proven evidence-based treatments. Our current laws contribute to the #stigma associated with substance use, hindering individuals from seeking help and perpetuating negative stereotypes. Criminalising substance use only marginalizes those in need, hindering their access to treatment and societal reintegration. Overcoming stigmatisation is key to breaking the cycle of use and punishment, promoting healing and reintegration. Recovery is a personal journey where the individual experiences shifts in values and perspectives of themselves, others and the world. As the saying goes, "You cannot tame a lion into a kitten by stroking it." It's a transformative process where individuals rediscover themselves and their purpose in life. Efforts to address substance use and related disorders should fall under the purview of the Ministry Of Health, Malaysia (KKM), and involve a multidisciplinary team of medical, psychological, legal, and social workers. This holistic approach ensures that individuals receive comprehensive care that promotes their recovery and well-being. I am posting the paperclipping of the article here. Change the context and the habit changes. Want to understand why? Well, let's delve into what drugs US soldiers used in the Vietnam War: According to a 1971 report by the Department of Defense, 51 percent of the armed forces had smoked marijuana, 31 percent had used psychedelics, such as LSD, mescaline and psilocybin mushrooms, and an additional 28 percent had taken hard drugs, such as cocaine and heroin. Actually, over 15 percent of all U.S. soldiers stationed there were heroin addicts! And, as you may know, heroin is a highly addictive drug. Nevertheless, approximately 90% of soldiers who used heroin in Vietnam eliminated their addiction nearly overnight. But how so? In Vietnam, soldiers spent all day surrounded by cues triggering heroin use: it was easy to access, they were engulfed by the constant stress of war, they built friendships with fellow soldiers who were also heroin users, and they were thousands of miles from home. Once a soldier returned to the United States, though, he found himself in an environment devoid of those triggers. When the context changed, so did the habit. Now, 2 days ago I landed in Bali. And no I'm not a heroin addict. But you know what happened? I started to write poems and wordplay again. And I absolutely love it. Change the context and the habit changes. I'm a writer. I was born a writer. Do you recognise any of this? PS: I'm not promoting the use of heroin. Regardless of the context. Shy away from hard drugs such as cocaine and heroin! PPS: Consider the safe use of psychedelics to speed up your personal development and transform yourselves. We've got some upcoming retreats! PPPS: Or just keep on reading my posts. #mentalhealth #coaching #retreats #personaldevelopment
