Read our #GNDRMembers briefing of day three of #HLPF, which shone a spotlight on progress towards #SDG13 - Climate Action 👉 https://buff.ly/3VXZCnQ Our key takeaways: 🌐 We remain drastically off track - there is a desperate need to act between now and #2030 🌐 Wealthier nations predominantly focused on the work they are doing domestically on cutting #emissions 🌐 Economically disadvantaged nations spoke of the need for #climatefinance and the importance of collective action 🌐 Nations reiterated their existing positions, stakeholders called for transformational change and UN agencies stood ready to support nations in their climate action 🌐 Much more is needed on all fronts, but the energy and ambition was lacking in the room

We're continuing the final sprint until the start of the 11th r3.0 International Online Conference 'Tipping Points On Tipping Points - Building Necessary Collapse Resilience', happening September 10 & 11, exactly one week from now. See all information you need at https://lnkd.in/e8QSWjVX. What are the most urgent discussions that we now need to have in times of the polycrisis and directions to (global) resilience? Here's #2 of 4 that we're covering in depth at the conference: Municipalities & Bioregions: Place-Based Collapse Resilience 2024 marks a conscious shift for r3.0 into a primary focus on place-based engagement, specifically at the nested scales of municipalities and bioregions, as these represent the most promising contexts for navigating collapse with resilience. This session focuses on the systemic innovations that communities are seeding to ruggedize in the context of increasing complexity and potential crashes. Get your ticket now, this is a not-to-miss discussion focused on necessary interventions: https://lnkd.in/e8QSWjVX.

[Highlights from the 12th GLOBAL DIALOGUE PLATFORM] At the 12th Global Dialogue Platform on October 22, 2024, the CREWS Secretariat hosted a crucial session titled: "Increasing Access to Financing for Early Warning and Anticipatory Action: From Last Mile to First Mile." Mr. Vladislav Kovalevsky, Program Manager for Knowledge Management & Research at the American Red Cross, emphasized the importance of funding for Early Warning Systems (EWS) that extends beyond technical infrastructure. He highlighted the need to address the social dimensions of warnings to ensure that communities can access, understand, and respond effectively to alerts. These insights reflect the shift toward people-centered, inclusive approaches in #FinanceForResilience, paving the way for stronger #ClimateAction that resonates with communities. #AnticipatoryAction #EarlyWarning #EWEA #DisasterPreparedness #GlobalDialoguePlatform

In recent years, almost USD 1.3 trillion has been promised to address the significant threats the world faces from climate change. This is an opportunity for funders, governments, and global institutions not just to react but to act intentionally to build healthy, resilient societies. Key to this work: investing in efforts for healthy, resilient children and families. This means putting the needs of young children and families at the center of efforts on adaptation by targeting and then rapidly scaling funding to support child- and family-serving systems. Our upcoming discussion paper, Centering Children and Families in the Adaptation Agenda, focuses on why we need more adaptation funding for our youngest children and the programs, social services, and infrastructure they rely on. We would love to have your input to help shape the paper! Please go into the paper and add your thoughts: https://lnkd.in/dCECescd

ICAO welcomes the upcoming First Session of the International Dialogue on Migration (IDM) 2024, hosted by IOM, UN Migration. This important event will take place on 21-22 May 2024 at the ECOSOC, United Nations Headquarters in New York, focusing on the theme "Facilitating Regular Pathways to A Better Future: Harnessing the Power of Migration." The IDM 2024 session provides an excellent platform for States and diverse partners to engage in cross-sectoral dialogue and cooperation, addressing the entire migration cycle and developing comprehensive approaches to facilitate regular pathways. We believe that this event will contribute to the creation of more opportunities for regular migration and foster innovative solutions. At ICAO, we recognize the significance of facilitating safe, secure, and efficient air travel for all passengers, including migrants. We provide technical specifications for the issuance of travel documents for travellers, migrants, refugees and stateless persons, work with States to ensure efficiency and regularity in processing these documents and promote implementations that are globally interoperable and thereby facilitate crossing of international borders. ICAO has designated 2024 as the Year of Facilitation, focusing on raising awareness of the importance of facilitation for all persons moving across international borders and implementing initiatives and programs that promote the facilitation of air travel. We wish IOM and all participants a successful and productive IDM 2024 session. The outcomes of this dialogue will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing efforts in facilitating regular migration pathways and harnessing the power of migration for a better future. #IDMigration24 #FAL2024

Collaboration is essential for building resilience, especially when addressing complex issues like climate change, infrastructure, and community development. By uniting diverse perspectives, resources, and expertise, collaboration enables more innovative and comprehensive solutions than any single entity could achieve alone. Government agencies provide regulatory frameworks and oversight, community organizations ensure local needs and inclusivity are addressed, and the private sector brings technical skills, innovation, and efficiency to the table. This collaborative approach not only enhances the ability to respond to immediate challenges but also builds long-term resilience by fostering adaptive systems and strengthening relationships among key stakeholders. In essence, resilience grows from partnerships that are grounded in shared goals and resources. #YMC YMC Young Management & Consulting
