Dear all, Nothing replaces a good break to continue increasing my set of free ready-made templates for SIMPLIS. The new ZIP file you can download from my webpage now contains more than 120 circuits which include 5 new examples featuring my own UC384x models. Each circuit is compensated using my automated macro and you can obtain the ac response of the power stage but also the loop gain in a fraction of seconds. This new release includes two fully-functional 3-phase PFCs, one of them being powered by the one-cycle-control (OCC) scheme introduced by Keyue Smedley in the 2000s. The second one operates a 6-switch structure, each leg being controlled by a multiplier in a more classical implementation. The THD is below 5% for the operating point I have chosen. These are of course experimental schematics but they offer a good overview of these all-analogue techniques. One really cool thing is the ability to have SIMPLIS run a periodic operating point (PoP) and extract the small-signal response while the three input ac sources are active. The stabilization process then becomes easier once you have the control-to-output transfer function. I also did add a 3-level single-phase PFC which simulates in a few seconds and delivers clean ac input waveforms (see the embedded picture). The most complex circuits require the full version of SIMPLIS but numerous files nicely run on the free demo Elements and will let you enjoy the speed of piece-wise linear engines to obtain an operating point within seconds and a small-signal response shortly after. the problem is the software itself. We’ve blamed users for decades. It’s exactly the same blame story now as it was in 2004. That fact should set in motion all the necessary questions in software development corporations. But it doesn’t. Their products are the problem, not the users. The products are fundamentally unfit. And this is obvious. A 20 year endless repeating struggle to get users to use them adequately and continuously blaming them for not getting it should cause reflection. And re-evaluation of the premise they’re built on. And what’s missing in that premise. When it’s added, model utility and interest in usage will increase. Blaming users will be forgotten.

I don't need a rabbit...but oh my, I want one! Teenage Engineering is doing some of the best product design anywhere. The rabbit website is even sexy. The next few years are going to be very exciting with the rollout of new hardware form factors for AI and the post-app era. The obvious challenge today is you still need your phone (ApplePay at a minimum), but I've carried two phones before and would happily carry this with a phone. The other challenge I see from the demo is their interface actually. The travel scheduling demo is a clear example of why a graphical user interface will still be needed. It's far easier to display the result of that request visually than to tap through a number of yes/no text approvals.
