At last week’s YMCA of Greater Louisville’s Emerging Leaders Conference, I shared how important it is for leaders to understand the “Holy Trinity of Employment” that serves as the root of happiness for all employees. The Holy Trinity of Employment is: 1. An employee who likes what they do 2. They like who they do it with 3. They get paid pretty good to do it That essentially means that if an employee (1) has a passion for what they do, (2) operates in a healthy work culture and (3) makes a livable wage… they will more than likely self identify as a happy employee. That means if you are a leader of people in a work setting, you should make it priority to understand these principles and build a culture that embraces the Holy Trinity of Employment.

My concerns regarding this change mostly center around how it will affect the ability of organizations to meaningfully support diverse members of their workforce. Equity is complicated because it is hard work. How long will organizations be able to retain diverse staff when they aren't treated equitably? While this seems to be primarily a branding decision stemming from DEI backlash and inability to grapple with equity can spell trouble down the line for an organization looking to create meaningful diversity and inclusion initiatives. #Nonprofit #Leadership #Finance
