Fast food lovers, say goodbye to free drink refills! McDonald's has started phasing out self-serve soda fountains for dine-in customers and plans to complete the process by 2032. Other fast food chains like Panera Bread and grocery store Wegmans have followed suit. Workers have cited the significant amount of cleaning and upkeep required for the dispensers as the reason behind this change. As McDonald's tends to be a leader in the industry, it's likely that other restaurants will soon follow suit. What do you think about this change?

Food sales have fallen off a cliff. For those who prefer video, I have attached a video explaining all of this at the bottom. Recently, I came across an article explaining that people seemingly are choosing Fast Food places over bars and restaurants. The reason being because quality is close the same. Wrong. And prices are far cheaper at places like McDonalds. Also wrong. So I just did one of my famous 5 minute research sessions and found out that my chicken sandwich costs $19, where as McDonalds cost $16. Not a huge price difference. On top of that, I can tell you that, at least at my places, we are giving you more food and better quality. In fact, if I gave the same amount of food as you get at McDonalds, my prices would likely beat theirs because in the case of a burger, we typically give .5 pounds, whereas McDonalds gives you the classic quarter pounder. So although you think you are saving a couple bucks, you are likely going to end up more hungry and snacking to make up the difference + treating your body far worse for the quality of food you are bringing in. Let me know your thoughts and if you have thought in a similar way. Eat wisely my friends. #restaurant #restaurantowner #hoboken #nyc

Surge pricing on burgers feels a bit like price gouging. But then supposedly you pay less at quiet times (I read that as you pay the current price). Is this a trend that we'll see happen in other industries. It makes sense as you need more staff at that time to handle demand, but at the same time we've been trained to expect prices on things like food to be, well, static. Unless of course it's seasonal and something isn't available. It already happens with services, so why not food? #wendys #food #foodbusiness #foodcost

I don't know what to think about this one... The Wendy's Company is beginning to trial pricing for their restaurants where the SAME item of food costs varied pricing based on the demand ratio of their restaurant. If a restaurant is empty ... a burger costs $0.99 If a restaurant is busy ... the same burger costs 4x as much at $3.99 Although this should help with low footfall periods, hunger is a fairly quick renewable source of demand, my money is on all this will do is confuse customers into eating at their restaurants at different times of the day, lowering their footfall in peak periods as customers have already eaten at the cheaper periods. Squeezing the margins on their food lower and lower which isn't good for staff, shareholders or customers. It's a race to the bottom. #sales #marketing #wendys

A new law regulating third-party food delivery 🍴 went into effect in Florida on April 2, 2024. In an effort to help restaurants curb unauthorized third-party delivery business practices, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed into law CS/SB 676, which was passed by the Florida Legislature during its 2024 Regular Session. The legislation regulates third-party food delivery apps by requiring that food delivery platforms (i) obtain permission from each food service establishment they arrange orders from and (ii) disclose transaction costs to each consumer who uses their service.
