Fun Fact 6: Bonk For those of you who were born in the late 70’s-80’s, you might remember a computer game called SkiFree ⛷️ When we were developing our website, we jokingly thought it would be hilarious if the SkiFree Yeti came out and gobbled up your shopping cart when you made a purchase. We had more than a giggle about this, to the extent we looked up the copyright on the Yeti, attempted to make contact with the designer of the game. When we were unsuccessful, we created our own version of a Yeti-anti hero named Bonk. Bonk represents that deep growling Yeti within. At first it’s distant. You’re sure, yet not sure, the monster is coming. A mild, wild sense of panic lurches in the pit of your tummy. “How can I keep this growling yeti at bay?” Be it a yeti in the back woods amidst bagging your latest peak, or that hangry monster from within as you’ve clocked the kilometres on a long day on the pavement, EVERYONE has a growling yeti they try to out hike - bike - run. Does anyone else think #HellmannsMayo completely missed on their #superbowl ad? Here's why I think they missed it ⬇️ Why do you think over 16 million people call out of work the day after the #superbowl? Because they're hungover. Hellmann's Mayo just didn't convince me to wake up the next morning hungover, call out of work, and have the desire to eat mayonnaise the next day. The cat saying "meo-yo" was very clever and cute, but the rest? Too corporate, too cute, and not enough to relate to the audience; over 16 million hungover people that want to eat their leftovers. There's not even mention of Super Bowl leftover recipes on their social media, or website. No tagged influencer content, no UGC, no nothing. They lost the opportunity for me to want to door dash some mayo to the house (because I'm too hungover to want to drive) and use some #HellmannsMayo to make a meal out of leftovers. I mean, at least make the connection on social media through low-cost sourced UGC, or share recipe blogs on how to include mayo to create delicious meals with your Super Bowl leftovers. Not relatable or memorable, just a huge miss and a great example of playing it safe and not having fun. 🎵 I recently applied (re: my 2nd biz/sweet side-hustle) to play my dulcimer at a local Toronto Sat.-morning farmers' market. Though I indicated to the manager/colleagues that I have past-years' experience in their market, perhaps this collage says it best - from 1999-2022! Yes, 23 yrs. off and on - all at the same market, albeit different locations. BTW, the full-colour pics are the oldest; the big centre pic the newest. 🎵 It feels so good to look back on bringing music - in a creative little biz begun in mid-life - to people at not only this market, but myriad ones, and events :) I've also done lots of media/online promo for such markets/events.
