Sickle Cell Disease is an inherited blood disorder characterized by the production of abnormal hemoglobin. This abnormality red blood cells to become rigid, sticky, and shaped like crescent moons or sickles, which can block blood flow and break apart easily leading to pain, infections, and other serious health complications. On June 19 every year, the global communities come together to observe the World Sickle Cell Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about sickle cell disease (SCD) and supporting individuals and families affected by this genetic blood disorder. The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America (SCDAA) invites everyone to commemorate World Sickle Cell Day with the inspiring theme, “Hope Through Progress: Advancing Sickle Cell Care Globally.” This theme highlights the collective effort required to enhance the lives of individuals affected by sickle cell disease (SCD) through improvements in care, research, and global awareness. Join us in the fight against sickle cell disease! Together, we can bring hope through progress. #WorldSickleCellDay #HopeThroughProgress #SickleCellAwareness #AdvancingSCDCare #HealthForAll #GlobalHealth #YoloHealth

🩸 World Sickle Cell Awareness Day: Recognizing the Signs and Symptoms🩸 Today, on World Sickle Cell Awareness Day, we aim to shed light on this genetic blood disorder that impacts millions globally. Understanding the signs and symptoms can lead to early diagnosis and better management. 🌍 Clinical Signs and Symptoms: - Pain Crises: Sudden, severe pain episodes, commonly in the chest, back, and joints. - Anemia:Fatigue, weakness, and shortness of breath due to the rapid breakdown of red blood cells. - Swelling: Painful swelling in the hands and feet, known as dactylitis. - Infections: Increased susceptibility to infections, especially in the lungs, due to spleen damage. - Vision Problems: Damage to blood vessels in the eyes can lead to vision issues. - Delayed Growth: Children with sickle cell disease may experience delayed growth and puberty. 🌟 Early diagnosis and comprehensive care can significantly improve the quality of life for those affected by sickle cell disease. Increased awareness, research, and support are crucial in the fight against this condition. Join us in spreading awareness, educating others, and advocating for better healthcare and research funding. This week is International #ThyroidAwarenessWeek 🦋 Did you know that autoimmune thyroid diseases (#AITD) comprise two main clinical manifestations? – Graves' disease (GD) and Hashimoto's #thyroiditis (HT). Both are characterized by lymphocytic infiltration of the thyroid parenchyma. Both entities are regarded as organ specific and together constitute 30% of all cases of #autoimmune diseases. ❗ It is important that people at risk of, or living with, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), including endocrine-related conditions, receive timely #diagnosis. For the complete assessment of thyroid autoimmune diseases, HUMAN provides #ELISA and #CLIA assays for TSH and #ThyroidHormones (fT3 and fT4): https://lnkd.in/ehMQzYEp

Today February 29th 2024 is rare disease day, today we celebrate rare and help raise awareness to aid in early diagnosis and treatment for patients with rare diseases worldwide. I have a rare neuro endocrine condition called panhypopituitarism caused by a Tumour on the Pituitary Gland, as a result i produce zero hormones and take hormone replacement therapy daily to try to normalise the loss of hormone produced by the Pituitary & Endocrine Glands, Share your story to raise awareness on this #rarediseaseday2024 #rarediseaseday #rarediseaseday2024 #rarediseaseawareness #rarediseaseresearch #pituitary

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a genetic blood disorder that alters hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body. This alteration causes the normally round and flexible red blood cells to become rigid and crescent-shaped (like a sickle), which can block blood flow and lead to severe pain and organ damage. As an individual with interest in the Sickle Cell disease , I urge you to join me today in raising awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by this often-overlooked disease. Let's turn today into an opportunity for education, empathy, and action. Together, we can create a world where everyone affected by sickle cell disease receives the support and understanding they deserve. #WorldSickleCellDay #SickleCellAwareness #HealthEquality
