It is often assumed that I am in the restaurant/bar business. It just ain't so. With a little google-foo, there is very little we do that cannot be done in your home kitchen and bar. You have chairs, you have tables, glasses, etc. We are in the experience management business. Everything, from the design of the entryway, to the specific decor and plating, are deliberately orchestrated to create an aesthetic, a feeling. You enter and get a sense of comfort and chill vibes that contribute as much to the overall experience as the food and beverages (which need to be top notch as well, by the way). You may walk away remembering the food, a fine cocktail, but you will be hard pressed to articulate why it was so pleasant. That is the experience, the XFactor that makes a place somewhere you want to come back to. It is the same whether you run a pub, a car dealer, or a manufacturing facility. The gimmicks, the social media, the marketing package will get them in the door. Once in, your customers are having an experience, an internal reaction and that is impacting your long term sales and profitability far more than your price, your gimmicks, or the flyer you post on Facebook.
