🌍 WORLD CANCER DAY FEB 4TH 🌍 This years theme is “Close the Care Gap” which sheds light on the global disparities in cancer care. I believe the most important step in the Global fight against cancer is raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of this complex disease and early detection. Breast Cancer is the commonest cancer affecting women worldwide and the most common cancer overall. It is so important for women to know how to examine their breasts, attend their screening mammogram or simply speak to their family doctor if they notice a lump in their breast. Early detection improves survival - almost ALL women with Breast Cancer survive their disease for 5 years or more, if diagnosed at an early stage. #worldcancerday #closethecaregap #breastcancerawareness #breastcancer #cancerawareness #cancerresearch #publichealth #publichealthmatters #selfexamination

Every year, doctors will diagnose about 297,790 new cases of breast cancer. That number is trending up: Lately, breast cancer incidence has been increasing about 0.5% each year. But thanks to early detection and more effective treatments, deaths from breast cancer are on the decline. Unfortunately, not everyone benefits equally from these advances: Black women with breast cancer are about 40% more likely to die from their disease than white women. Screening by accredited programs coupled with access to targeted therapies and other advanced treatment can help improve survival for all patients. To mark National Cancer Prevention Month in February, learn which patients should be screened and how to boost screening engagement with VHAN's Cancer Screening Quick Reference Guide on the VHAN Hub: https://lnkd.in/eHZU6ArH #cancerawareness #cancerscreening #breastcancerawareness #nationalcancerpreventionmonth

Bowel symptoms can be so ambiguous which can sometimes make it very difficult to know should you worry? If you are having rectal bleeding, bowel changes, abdominal pain or other new or unusual symptoms - please ask the question to your Dr, rather than thinking it is minor, or infrequent and so likely nothing and can be ignored. Unfortunately when young, we always think cancer is something that happens to others. We are busy, so we will think about it later. Early onset colorectal cancer is rising at an alarming rate. Bowel cancer has a 90% success rate of cure if caught early. So don’t ignore or delay getting bowel symptoms checked - it could save your life. Check out the below post for more info.

August 1 is #WorldLungCancerDay. Today, we recognize the individuals affected by #lungcancer and spread awareness about the disease. Excluding skin cancer, lung cancer is the second most common cancer type in men and women in the United States. In 2024, the American Cancer Society estimates that 234,580 new diagnoses of lung cancer will occur. Lung cancer is also the leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. — accounting for more yearly deaths than colorectal, breast and prostate cancer combined. In a recent Health & Wellness Magzine article, we break down the basics of lung cancer, the importance of early detection and myths about the cancer type.
