Once a student, now a youth worker! Liam's journey demonstrates the impact that our team members and holistic education model can have on young people's lives. After Liam participated in the 2023 Sydney to Surfers charity bike ride, he was inspired to pursue a career in youth work. Thanks to Liam's own dedication, and the guidance he received from Youth Off The Streets mentors like Joseph Ratouvou and Kylie Sharp, he earned a formal certificate. Now, he has returned to the organisation, and supports young people experiencing homelessness at crisis and short-term accommodation, Don Bosco House. At Hyve, we’re committed to investing 1% of our profits annually into two community projects. And the best part? Our colleagues drive this meaningful change by nominating projects that mean something to them. Anna Bailey, Senior Content Producer for Bett, connected with 2econd Chance at our Bett Global show - a charity tackling e-waste by refurbishing computers while providing work-based training for people with disabilities and those furthest from the job market. Through this partnership, we’re funding eight bursaries for their training programme and supporting the refurbishment of 50 laptops to be donated to those who need them most. Listen to 2econd Chance’s story – an inspiring example of turning e-waste into opportunity and empowerment! 💚♻️💻 #Sustainability #socialimpact #ESG #communityengagement #LifeAtHyve

School Backpack Drive! 📚💼 This summer, from June through August, we're collecting backpacks to support students in need as they head back to school. Whether you're a WBON member or not, you can help! 🌟 👥💪 Why not involve your co-workers? It's a great team-building opportunity and a chance to give back to the community. Plus, businesses that donate 5 or more backpacks will receive a big shoutout for their generosity! 📉 According to a recent Morning Consult survey, only 36% of U.S. parents can afford back-to-school shopping this year, down from 52% last year. Additionally, over 37% of parents are feeling stressed about this annual expense, an increase from last year's 32%. 🤝 Join us in making a difference! Your support can ensure that every child has the tools they need to succeed this school year. For more details and how to participate, visit WBON of the Triangle. #BackToSchoolDrive #WBONTriangle #CommunitySupport #EducationMatters #TeamWork #BusinessGivingBack #HelpingHands #SchoolSupplies #NoChildLeftBehind 🎒📘✏️

Here are my thoughts on volunteering in the UK, which is an important part of school life. Many schools encourage students to join meaningful community projects. This culture is supported by government programs, school initiatives, and charities that offer different ways for students to volunteer. In many schools, volunteering is part of the curriculum or an extracurricular activity. Kids and teens get involved in things like helping the elderly, raising money for charities, caring for the environment, organizing community events, and supporting younger students. Many schools even have volunteer clubs where students and their mentors pick projects to work on together. A popular program is the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, which includes volunteer tasks and is valued when applying to universities. Volunteering also gives students an advantage when applying to universities. British universities look at whether applicants have been involved in meaningful community projects, which shows their enthusiasm, teamwork skills, and desire to help others. #Volunteering #Education #SchoolLife #CommunityEngagement #StudentDevelopment #YouthInAction #SocialImpact #Teamwork #LeadershipSkills #FutureLeaders #UniversityApplications #DukeOfEdinburghAward #UKEducation #GivingBack #BuildingSkills

𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 others can take many forms, each addressing specific needs and circumstances. Financial help is one of the most common forms, where you provide money or resources to someone in need, whether it’s donating to a charity, offering a loan, or paying for someone’s groceries. 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 support is another critical area, involving being there for someone to listen, comfort, or offer advice during difficult times. This type of help is invaluable as it can provide a sense of belonging and understanding.Practical help includes doing tasks for someone who is unable to do them on their own. This could be running errands, offering a ride, or helping with household chores. It can also involve volunteering your time for community service or helping out in an emergency. 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 help, on the other hand, involves tutoring, mentoring, or providing resources to help someone learn new skills or knowledge, empowering them to improve their situation. 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐲 , advocacy and empowerment are forms of help where you support someone's rights or help them find their voice, whether by standing up for them in a challenging situation or helping them access opportunities they might not reach on their own. Each type of help contributes to building a more supportive and compassionate community. #Helpfull 🙏❤️ #Peopel 😊 #Providing #support❤️👉❤️👈

Residents can now access a one-stop online support portal that offers opportunities for financial help and assistance from over 2,500 schemes and grants nationwide. The City Council has teamed up with Lightning Reach, a portal where residents complete a profile by answering a simple 10-15 minute online questionnaire. Once a profile is complete, residents can see in one place all the support they might be eligible for, get updated when more support is added, and apply for multiple sources of support directly through the portal. The Lightning Reach portal includes targeted help with energy bills, home improvements to boost energy efficiency, or grants from charities, and disability aids. Centrepoint- Youth Homelessness My Centrepoint 10:10 in support of National homelessness day is complete, running 10Km a day for 10 days although I did start with the Congleton Half- marathon to kick me off. When I decided to undertake this challenge, I thought it would be easier than it proved to be, after all 10Km (6.2miles) is not that far when you have run several marathons and an Ultra-marathon. This is what I learnt, running everyday without rest and recovery days is really tough when you’re training for a marathon you have a plan that builds in rest and recovery and whilst on the day you have to run 26.2 miles you are trained, fueled, hydrated and start refreshed knowing that at the end of your run your going to take it easy for a few days. Yes, a short gentle shakeout run but lots of recovery. I have a much-improved appreciation and huge respect for people that take on real challenges like back-to-back marathons, I really don’t know how they do it. Most importantly we beat our fundraising target, 110% this morning as a Thank You to everyone who donated I completed another 10K a bonus run thank you, but we don’t have to stop I will commit to running another 10K for every additional £100 over our fundraising goal. = Keep giving and I have to keep running. With the winter months approaching Centrepoint need our support more than ever. https://lnkd.in/e5mVHqV8

Interested in Unrestricted Funding? 🌟 At the heart of building equitable relationships between funders and charities lies Unrestricted Funding. Defined as grants that can be "spent or applied at the discretion of the trustees to further any of the charity’s purposes"; it is a key factor in empowering charities to achieve their long term charitable mission. This is an insightful piece of research from the Institute For Voluntary Action Research , on the impact of unrestricted funding. Here are the highlights: - A review of various approaches and definitions of impact - A practical framework for assessing the impact of unrestricted funding - An “open and trusting” approach to improve unrestricted funding impact practice In addition, it includes practical insights from the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales , Esmée Fairbairn Foundation , Pears Foundation , Peter Minet Trust, and Impetus - Backing the best. Well done to Christopher Mills Mill and the team for this valuable contribution! 🙌 Looking forward to more insight on this during the upcoming webinar on July 11th! So yes, let's get this done. And yes, we're going to stay on this #tilitsdone
Imagine if we built 10 new Youth Foyers across the country and 3500 young people had the chance of safe and stable housing over the next 10 years? At the Foyer Foundation we have already imagined it and we’re ready to build a better future for young Australians. We have partners across the country poised to start work.
