Today, Youth Climate Action Team Inc. had the distinct pleasure of being invited by US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael S. Regan to attend the launch of the National Environmental Youth Advisory Council. As one of the few youth-led organizations given the opportunity to testify at The White House Council on Environmental Quality’s inaugural community connection centering #youth stakeholdership in #environmentaljustice — an initiative I proudly championed during my tenure at CEQ — words cannot convey the enormity of this triumph for our movement. Three years ago, during my senior year of high school, I had the privilege of meeting Administrator Regan and representing YCAT on this very topic through the #YouthInGov movement. It is awe-inspiring to witness what consistent, determined, and meaningful organizing can achieve in just three years. I am beyond proud of YCAT Executive Director Catherine Jeon and Policy Director Simrin Chowdhury for representing us today. The NEYAC stands as a testament to the potential within the #youthclimatemovement and marks the dawn of a new generation of young decision-makers shaping our country’s future. Nonetheless, our imperative remains steadfast: to vigilantly hold decision-makers accountable until the council's guidance is translated into potent policy measures that bring tangible benefits to communities across the nation.
