YPCS - Young People's Counselling Service’s Post

🚨 HELP SAVE YPCS 🚨 Next year should be the year Young People’s Counselling Service celebrates its 30th birthday – after being established by a local GP, Dr Gillie Evans, in 1994. Instead, due to a struggle to find regular funding, we face the horrible truth that unless we raise £300,000 by April, we will be forced to close our charity. Today, we launch a campaign to save YPCS, with a message from Dr. Alison Graham, our Chair of Trustees: “We find ourselves with just six months to save this charity that we love so deeply – and that provides such a critical mental health service to the young people of our city and our region at a time when those services are needed more than ever. Today, according to the Charlie Waller Trust, just 25% of children and young people who need mental health support actually get it. “The pandemic exacerbated an already worsening mental health crisis in our young people, and with an NHS that is strapped for resources, charities like YPCS fill a crucial gap in services. As is so often the case with charities under pressure, our situation does not come due to a lack of demand. “Last year, Young People’s Counselling Service supported 450 young people in the region with our services. We helped another 800 through projects with the NHS. As I make this call for support, we have 90 young people actively using our services. “So, today, we’re calling on everyone – the public, businesses, councils and MPs alike – to join our cause and help save our charity. No donation is too small, or idea too big. Whether it’s making us a part of your work Christmas party plans, or partnering with us in a long-term capacity. “There is no charity like the YPCS. For 30 years we have supported the young people of this city – and we call on you to help us do it again.” Our JustGiving Campaign page is linked below – and here: https://lnkd.in/e6BUGJ3E Anything you can give means the world. LinkedIn connections, a personal plea from me (as a current trustee for this amazing, and essential, charity). If there is anything you can do to help us, be that donate, share this post, effect an introduction to someone else who can help, or bring to our attention a great idea, then please do so. Thank you for your consideration.

This is so sad to hear and would be a huge loss to local communities and the sector as a whole. Please do reach out if there are potential funding collaborations or services we can work together on. ❤️ 🙏

Please support this if you can. As a trustee for many years I have seen this charity grow from providing support just in Whittlesey to providing hundreds of hours advice and support across North Cambs.
