Day 41 of 100 Days of Games of Chance in Kenya. The Analytical mind of a Horse racing punter. Today's article is a news feature from February 3rd 1974. It looks at Kenya Charity Sweepstakes. What caught my interest was How Charity Sweepstakes works with horseracing. It is an entire lottery on which lane a horse will start from. A draw is held, sometimes on live TV the night before and the stall (lane) a horse will start from is picked. The importance of the starting stall to a punter is that one must study the track so as to avoid/minimise placing bets on horses running on softer and therefore slower parts of the track. This gifting of the Match Ball sponsership to a life long fan just seemed like 'The Right Thing To Do'. Twists of fait brought our paths together. Match Ball Sponsors are normally in the Arnold Hills (as we were previous). However myself and others prefer the Forge because we get seats closer to the pitch (even if we go through another lounge), the rooms are more of a bustle although some might say slightly less sophisticated / exclusive. So I requested the change to suit 'our tastes'. On the offical site Aronald hills is 4x£ compared to Forge 3x£ but we want to see and 'feel' the game. Our tables happened to be next to each other due to the size of both parties, and the friendliness of both groups meant there was some interaction. After swwing the cake come out and hearing the stories, it was just the right thing to do. There will be other balls, but only one 85th. It's National Volunteers Week so here's a little story for you.... One of my voluntary roles is the dream job of being Team Manager for my youngest son's rugby team (Pentyrch RFC Under 8s - soon to be Under 9s) One of our coaches got some great raffle prizes for us (a kicking session with Jonny Wilkinson) to raise money for our first tour next year.... I knew Raffall was an online raffle platform as I'd bought tickets on there previously, so I started setting up the raffle but wasn't enjoying the experience, it was a bit clunky... I google'd something like 'Raffall alternatives' and came across Raffaly - a new alternative with ✅ cheaper fees (great for charities where every penny counts!) ✅ guest checkout (making it much easier to buy raffle tickets - higher conversion and sales) Unfortunately I hit some stumbling blocks and page errors. I was on a hard deadline to get the raffle live as I was going on holiday the next day, so I put it live on Raffall but I emailed my bugs and feedback to Raffaly. The founder Liam Walder emailed me back the next day, he'd fixed all the bugs I'd found and thanked me for letting him know....
