Ever wondered how an inward mindset, whether by ourselves or others, can affect the collaboration within our teams? Let's dive into this critical question. #TeamCollaboration#MindsetMatters
I have collaborated with Rahul Doshi since the 20teens--over five years!
As our roles evolved, so too has our collaboration. In this blog, we discuss what we have learned about ourselves and our teams, and, most importantly, what collaboration is and how we foster it for strategic (not just transactional) outcomes.
The most powerful learning opportunities aren't fancy training programs, or pricey books with flashy titles!
Powerful learning comes from meaningful discussions with colleagues with whom our actions either create or erode value.
Who are your core-collaborators—and do you know how what you do affects them? Are you constantly volleying the ball across the net to each other in harmony, or are you playing a zero-sum game in which there can only be one winner? Please read and share your experiences.
Yesterday I came across an article by Neil Gibson, facilitator of ADEPT and Amey’s PACE programme, explaining the importance of investing in thought leadership using a ‘Rubik’s cube of place’ analogy.
As I now stare at my own Rubik’s cube that I was gifted by my team leader, Fereshteh Sanaei, it has been given a new meaning.
The article touches on how better decision-making may start with having humility about what we do and don't know. And I confess, that for 26 years I did not know how to complete a Rubik’s cube.
It also goes on to state how it is not always about finding new solutions but finding the time and space to free the mind. So that’s what I did. I took the time to learn, step-by-step, one of the many ways to solve a Rubik’s cube.
This approach can be applied to all aspects of engineering, where allowing sufficient time for critical thinking can promote new approaches and ideas to solving the complex problems we face on a daily basis, driving for better outcomes for the communities served.

In this unit, we have discussed the importance of assembling a group of key actors into the development of initial agreements. If you were developing such a team, what criteria would you look for when reaching out to people both inside and outside of your organization?
🎥 Dive into "WHERE GOOD IDEAS COME FROM" by Steven Johnson
Hey LinkedIn community! 👋
I stumbled upon a thought-provoking video titled "WHERE GOOD IDEAS COME FROM" by the Steven Johnson, and I couldn't wait to share it with all of you. 💡✨

it got me pondering the significant role the environment plays in sparking creativity.
Here's what resonated with me:
1️⃣ Cultivating Collaboration: An environment that encourages collaboration and diverse perspectives. When minds come together, magic happens!
2️⃣ Embracing Chaos: Sometimes, the best ideas emerge from chaos. An environment that allows for experimentation and risk-taking fosters innovation.
3️⃣ Cross-Pollination of Ideas: Like a vibrant ecosystem, an innovative environment facilitates the cross-pollination of ideas across disciplines, leading to groundbreaking concepts.
⏳ If you have more time, Steven Johnson made a TED talk as well

This is a great video with Mark Rosenthal about "Infusing Toyota Kata into the Organization: Big Bang or Gradual”
It’s about processes for introducing change of any kind into an organization.
Here's the main points, but there's a lot more expert-level insights in that video.
1) Start where they are
2) Pull the willing toward you
3) Use as much existing structure as possible
4) What you can, where you can
5) Reinforce success

Why practice scientific thinking with your team? Well, if you're a Leanie it's going to help you overcome the obstacles to Lean in your context.
After 30 years, Lean has not come close to its envisioned success as a way of working/thinking. It should be obvious by now that a linear, mechanistic 'implementation' mindset is not going to do it. If you're in the Lean community it's high time to be practicing a skillset that's all about discovering and overcoming obstacles that arise on the way to a challenging goal.

Have you ever shown up to the wrong place with nowhere else to go? What did you do?
On the way back from facilitating a creative workshop for a YPO Forum in Whistler last week, I caught up with my friend and colleague, Dr. David Newman, creativity expert and amazing human being. We had never met IRL (in real life) and after a lovely lunch, we headed for our gorgeous studio space that we booked at the North Vancouver Library.
We arrived full of enthusiasm, only for our hopes to be dashed. There is more than one North Vancouver library, apparently.
We looked around for options, including a brief flirt with the lobby of city hall that didn’t pan out.
Time was ticking away.
Maybe we should give up.
But what did we really need?
A dry place and a device to record the video.
We found a spot under an overhang, ordered a coffee and pressed record.
Our adventure reminded me of managers who wish their teams would just “figure it out”. Managers who always seem to be putting out fires, solving problems, and have no time to work on long term and important work.
If you’re a manager, ask yourself honestly (really honestly):
What would your team do if they showed up for an important meeting and the room was fully booked?
Would they call you?
Would they panic and run away screaming?
Would they come up with their own solution?
If they did, how would you react?
–be honest, how would you react?
If you want to avoid a panicked call for help from outside a locked library room, you need psychological safety, to allow them to make a choice in that moment.
Employees need to feel like you have their back, even if they fail, in order to take small risks to solve problems on their own. (As a certified fun mom - it's the same for kids, by the way.)
You can check out our chat about how you can focus on solutions instead of problems, and the importance of psychological safety for creativity in organizations here.: https://lnkd.in/g9WHVBXg#psychologicalsafety#problemsolving#creativeproblemsolving#leadership#failure
🌟 We are excited to share about our enriching session on 'Driving Sustainable Accountability' Workshop with Traci Austin! Traci expertly navigated us through the intricacies of accountability, framing it as a dynamic relationship rather than a mere task.
Here's what we gleaned:
✅ Breaking down personal tasks into SMARTY goals for clarity and effectiveness.
✅ Recognizing the ripple effect of our actions on team dynamics and performance.
✅ Embracing proactive habits: setting clear expectations, seeking assistance when needed, and fostering a culture of collaboration.
At CAM, we're dedicated to continuous growth, both individually and as a cohesive unit. This workshop empowered us to not only excel in our roles but also strengthen our bonds as team players. Huge gratitude to Traci for orchestrating such an impactful event!

Two truths and one lie:
1. Avoiding conflict entirely is nearly impossible.
2. Conflict isn't something to be feared and avoided.
3. The best conflict resolution strategy is to not draw attention to it.
Can you guess the lie?
Conflict can lead to innovation, creativity and a more engaged team.
But in order for that to happen, accepting that there will be conflict and normalizing discussions before conflict snowballs is key.
