You might think 'I find it easier to speak to non-clinical staff’ but what about clinicians like GPs, nurses, paramedics, other pharmacists?' You can use the same approach AND utilise your clinical skills to be more present. How? Tip 1: you have to make sure you are thorough – clinically. This does not mean you need to know everything but learn on the go and make sure you build relationships with patients and improve your record keeping. You don’t realise that everyone (most likely everyone) in the practice will see your notes and your interaction with patients because we all share the same patients! They see your notes, they speak to the patient Z after Z have seen you and might say 'that new pharmacist…' or in my case 'that little Asian lady…' 😁 #clinicalnotes #relationships #GP #pharmacist #nurse #paramedic #conversation Picture attached represents a typical example of 'that little Asian lady'. Although not all of us always require two pairs of glasses.

'Yuen, how do I not care about what others' think of me?' My honest answer is 'It’s impossible to be completely unaffected by others’ comments. We’re human, after all.' But here’s the key: focus on MINIMISING their impact on you. Instead of letting every opinion sway you, practice selective listening. Filter out the noise and focus on constructive feedback. By doing this, you gain control over how you deal with situations and maintain your peace of mind. Understanding why others’ words affect you can be enlightening. Often, their comments touch on our deepest fears and insecurities. By recognising this, you can confront and address these fears, turning them into opportunities for growth. Remember, your worth isn’t determined by others’ opinions. Embrace your journey, trust your instincts, and keep moving forward. #SelectiveListening #PersonalGrowth #Mindfulness #SelfWorth #Resilience I clearly didn't care about what others think when I was posing with my children 😆

Why is it so hard to let go? Letting go is never easy. Whether it’s releasing expectations, relinquishing control over what we want to achieve, or overcoming impatience, the struggle is real. But here’s the beauty of it: when we accept things as they are, we often find that life unfolds in our favour anyway. Letting go doesn’t mean giving up. It means trusting the process and allowing space for growth and unexpected opportunities. Next time you feel the weight of unmet expectations, take a deep breath and let go. You might be surprised at how things fall into place just as you hoped, or even better. #LettingGo #Acceptance #TrustTheProcess #PersonalGrowth #Mindfulness Sometimes being still and watching the clouds past me by helps me to take a step back and breathe, while letting things BE.

Ever felt stuck waiting for the “perfect” moment to start something? It is normal to experience Perfection Paralysis. The secret to get unstuck is to fully accept that your first attempt will be bad/not where you want to be and that is okay! The magic lies in starting. Your initial attempt will be full of flaws, but it’s a crucial step towards improvement. Without that imperfect beginning, you’ll never get anywhere. Remember, every masterpiece begins with a rough sketch. So, embrace the imperfections, adapt, and keep moving forward. #GrowthMindset #PerfectionParalysis #FirstDraft #KeepMovingForward #EmbraceImperfection The first attempt of trying a new dessert is can be a disappointment/surprise. Fortunately for me, the peach sorbet and pistachio crumb is a winner =D

Do you TRUST me? It is not as simple as that. Trust is not one-dimensional. In the dynamic world of general practice, trust is not a one-size-fits-all concept. It’s a nuanced, multidimensional gem that shapes our interactions and decisions every day. As a partner in a general practice, I’ve learned that trust can vary greatly depending on the context. For instance, I might trust a colleague to manage patient consultations with utmost empathy and professionalism, but I might not rely on the same colleague for complex administrative tasks. This distinction doesn’t diminish their value; it highlights the diverse strengths we all bring to the table. Recognising and respecting these nuances in trust can lead to a more cohesive and effective healthcare team. How do you navigate the complexities of trust in your professional life? #GeneralPractice #Trust #Leadership #Teamwork #Healthcare

Success Does NOT Silence Self-Doubt! As the first Pharmacist in Lincolnshire to step into the role of Clinical Director, I thought my achievements would silence my insecurities. Yet, even with this milestone, imposter syndrome continued to whisper doubts in my ear. Despite the accolades and responsibilities, the feeling of not being “enough” persisted. It’s a reminder that success doesn’t always equate to self-assurance. Here’s how I’ve learned to manage these feelings: 1. Acknowledge Your Feelings: Accept that it’s normal to feel this way. Recognizing imposter syndrome is the first step to overcoming it. 2. Celebrate Your Wins: Take time to reflect on your achievements, no matter how small. Each success is a testament to your capabilities. 3. Seek Support: Talk to mentors, colleagues, or friends. Sharing your experiences can provide new perspectives and reassurance. 4. Continuous Learning: Embrace a growth mindset. Understand that learning and development are ongoing processes. 5. Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself. Remember, everyone has moments of doubt, and it’s okay to not have all the answers. Let’s continue to support each other in our professional growth and celebrate our unique contributions to the field. #Leadership #ImposterSyndrome #ProfessionalGrowth #MentalHealthMatters

Accountability is used frequently but how can we do it regardless of our role? True accountability goes beyond mere words; it’s an action, a commitment to owning our decisions, the good and the bad. It’s the courage to admit when we don’t have all the answers, rather than pretending to be infallible. Inspiring leaders don’t blame circumstances; they own their decisions and learn from them. It’s not about control, but about taking responsibility for both successes and setbacks. Here’s to the leaders who: -Acknowledge their mistakes. -Seek lessons in every outcome. -Lead with integrity and inspire growth. #Leadership #Accountability #Integrity #LearningFromMistakes Eating a Bird's eye Chili was a mistake, but I’m owning up to it. I’m not crying because it’s hot, I’m just auditing my life choices!” 🔥

Embracing the Non-Linear Journey in Pharmacy Be patient and don't expect to get it right first time! As I reflect on my career path, I’m reminded of the beauty that lies in the non-linear. The first job I held was not a crystal ball into my future, but rather the first step on a winding path of discovery. From the structured environment of a hospital pharmacy to community pharmacy and online clinics, each role was a chapter in my story, not the entire book. The transition to online clinics opened a new realm of possibilities, connecting me with patients beyond physical boundaries. But it was in general practice where I found my symphony, a place where my roles as a Pharmacist, Educator, Partner harmonised where I can make a difference to the team and also to patients. It’s here that my strengths are not just recognised but celebrated. Life, much like a career, is beautifully unpredictable. It’s filled with breaks that refresh, flash starts that invigorate, and challenges that strengthen. Understanding oneself and one’s passions is a journey, not a destination. Through it all, I’ve learned that satisfaction doesn’t come from a smooth ride, but from the resilience and growth in navigating the bumps along the way. I’ve embraced every part of this journey, and I encourage you to do the same. #Pharmacy #CareerJourney #NonLinearPath #SelfDiscovery #GrowthMindset
