Navigating US Customs as a Muslim? Here’s how to handle extra questioning. Assalamu alaykum, As Muslims, it's all too common to return home and suddenly be bombarded with questions by US Customs: 'Who did you see?' 'Where did you go?' 'How long were you gone?' The next time you're asked a barrage of questions by Customs, just reply, “Here’s my boarding pass and itinerary.” If the officer keeps asking you questions, say, "I am a US Citizen, and I am asking to return home." Customs is supposed to leave you alone if you insist on not answering any questions. They will test your patience but you have to be firm and remember: You are a US citizen, and there is no reason for you to be questioned. It's unfortunate, but as Muslims, we often face extra questioning and scrutiny. Being singled out isn't fair or respectful, and you deserve better. Know that you have a right to return home without being held hostage by endless questioning. This is ten kilograms of solid gold that I managed to bring with me without paying any Customs duty and Tax" MORAL :-- Politics is when you can tell the same thing in different ways to fool different audience, and steal their money, and allow yourself to look good in every way.
