I analyzed how the organization of music genre categories are heavily steeped in ideas of #race - I argued that Canadian media long failed to represent and support artists in genres traditionally classified as “Black music” which stunted the growth of R&B music in Canada - despite Canada having many talented R&B bands and mixed raced groups!
