💡Understanding the Differences: RHCs vs. FQHCs While both RHCs and FQHCs serve as essential providers of primary care, there are notable differences between the two: 1. 🔍Scope of Services: RHCs primarily focus on delivering core primary care services to Medicare patients in rural areas, whereas FQHCs offer a broader range of healthcare services, including dental and behavioral health, to underserved communities regardless of location. 2. 💰Reimbursement: RHCs receive enhanced reimbursement rates from Medicare and Medicaid for the services they provide, while FQHCs receive federal funding through grants and reimbursement under the Prospective Payment System (PPS) or Alternative Payment Methodology (APM). 3. 🌐Community Focus: FQHCs are required to have a governing board with a majority of members who are patients of the health center, ensuring community involvement and representation in decision-making processes.
