Since 1998, YWCA Dayton has set aside one special day to recognize and honor women in our community. We celebrate Dayton’s most influential women, all of whom have made a difference in our community through their dedication to the YWCA mission of empowering women, eliminating racism and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

Manager, External Relations at Women Deliver with M.A. in International Affairs, driving global SRHR advocacy
📣 One week ago, Women Deliver unveiled our new look! More than just a visual makeover, this refresh helps to better answer the question, "So, what does Women Deliver do, aside from the Conferences?" Answer: We advance the health and rights of adolescent girls by creating spaces for collective action, championing and supporting youth advocacy, and convening likeminded organizations. And we focus on three primary issues impacting sexual and reproductive health and rights #SRHR: 👩⚕️ Universal health coverage 🌡 The climate crisis 🛑 Countering anti-rights actors Read more in this post from my colleague, Kimberley Lufkin, https://lnkd.in/eU3quSAN

Ways the Black Feminist Fund leads: 1. Eight-year flexible grants to sustain Black feminist organizations around the world 2. The Global Black Feminist Forum held in Barbados, bringing together 300 activists, scholars, practitioners in philanthropy. One of the many reasons this was crucial is because the Caribbean is the only global region without its own feminist fund 3. Participatory, stipended grantmaking process and committee 4. Funding registered and non-registered and non-registered groups 5. Breaking the global north-south binary by funding and connecting Black feminist groups in the Americas, the Middle East, Europe and Africa. #whereBFFleadsphilanthropyshouldfollow

Jah & Jahes love. I wish that one of these women would adopt me or create a program for low-wealth and struggling black women. I have never, ever, benefitted from the philanthropy of any of these women. But, they reportedly give millions away each year in gifts and stuff. Blessed love.#1804#Ayiti#ToutMounseMoun#AbolishCPS#AbolishPoverty#DefundFosterCare#ProChoice#RawVeganforLife#HRES40NOW#NoNewOccupationofAyiti#ProChoice#BwaKale

Beginning to dig into the Spring 2024 Edition of Nonprofit Quarterly Magazine, and without question, it’s a powerful and instructive read! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 The latest edition of the magazine primarily sheds light on the amount of energy and skill Black women in social sector leadership are forced to expend to navigate unjust intersectional power dynamics. The pieces also offer a window into the resulting consequences for organizational leadership and management. If you’ve been following my thoughts here, and other places, these topics have been on my mind for Black leaders, more generally, and NPQ has been such a tremendous resource. Check it out and apply the lessons!
The Spring 2024 edition of NPQ Magazine is here! This edition is a resounding “no” in the face of the travesty that Black women leaders, and other women of color leaders, have been contending with in the sector. Thanks to the generous support of our community, Boss Women Matter (BWM) Round Table Talks have become a vital resource for Black women founders in Chicagoland. These open dialogues are a lifeline for Black women founders and serve as a cornerstone for community building, policy advocacy, and capacity building. While substantial progress has been made, the journey to economic equality for Black women founders remains challenging. Despite persistent systemic funding disparities to underrepresentation, our expanding community of founders is steadfast in their commitment to overcoming these barriers and creating a more equitable economic landscape. Never before has our work been more critical. By dismantling these obstacles, we not only empower individuals but also uplift entire communities. Each Black woman founder supported is a beacon of hope, illuminating a brighter future for us all. So today we invite you to make an impact with a powerful statement of support. Your contribution will not only help us expand our Round Table Talks, but provide mentorship, and advocate for policies. Together, we can empower the next generation of Black women entrepreneurial leaders. Will you join us in creating a brighter future? Donate now to support Black women founders. https://lnkd.in/g_ZJZZhq Not on our email list? Join us by subscribing below! https://lnkd.in/gkZF3xEA

Cultural Economist helping leaders build a common ground of understanding and collaboration on race and economic equity
In this month's CGC Journal, we dive into the War Waged Against Black Women and DEI. Plus, we ask the critical question: Why do a majority of White women vote polar opposite of the majority of Black women ... and all nonwhite women? We want to hear from you. Join our co-learning community and let's have a conversation. To make substantive progress we must understand the enemies of our progress. https://lnkd.in/gctvFRz5
