For older wells, near surface corrosion is a particular area of concern and a leading cause of critical well integrity issues and eventual remediation. With the potential for poor quality cement jobs, lack of returns, surface water and the existence of annular fluid levels, seeing actionable metal loss on the backside of the top joint is unfortunately commonplace. Wall thinning has become a very key term in recent years, both for operators and regulators, as several high-profile incidents have been attributed to wall thinning in root cause analysis. With widespread, circumferential corrosion most common near the surface of a well, having a direct, precise set of measurements and a robust characterization in these critical zones is paramount. Legacy technologies struggle with validity near the metal mass of the wellhead and provide relative, modeled predictions rather than finite measurements in areas of general wall thinning, leaving operators at risk. DarkVision continues to provide well integrity diagnostics that the market desperately needs, and we look forward to more examples like the one below that allow our technology to protect customers from unwarranted failure and save countless dollars in unnecessary costs. #oilandgas #oilandgasindustry #energy #wellintegrity #naturalgas #petroleumengineering
