Zachry Construction Corporation’s Post

In the 1950’s, Zachry embarked on projects that shaped the landscape of infrastructure and energy production. Big Inch Pipeline spanning Tennessee and Kentucky: In 1950, Zachry laid 95 miles of pipeline for the Texas Eastern Pipeline Company, marking the beginning of H. B. Zachry Company’s work in pipeline construction. Throughout the next 35 years, Zachry completed 5,248 miles of such pipeline. W.B. Tuttle Steam Power Plant (San Antonio, TX): In 1953, construction began on Unit II of the W.B. Tuttle plant marked Zachry’s first turnkey power plant project, leading to the construction of more than 100 plants that produce more than 60,000 megawatts of electricity. In 1957, Zachry was awarded a contract by the U.S. Air Force to rebuild runways at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, TX, and opted for efficiency by incorporating Capitol Aggregates to manage sand, gravel, and ready-mix operations, repurposing an existing lithium plant to meet materials demands for the project. #Zachry100 #BuildingTheExtraordinary #CenturyofExcellence
