Advisor/Teacher/Combat Veteran/Civil Servant. Community Service and empowering others isn't a job, its a calling. I aspire to leave every human, situation, and community, better or stronger than when I arrived

Over the course of one weekend, our battalion lost two more brothers who participated in battle back in 2007-2008. They were in the early 40’s and 50’s, must to young to leave this earth. These unfortunate passings weren’t the suicides you commonly hear about in the veteran community. With the addition of at least two additionals in the last year, almost 1% of an infantry battalion passed in just the last 365 days. Though not at this pace, the trend of veterans from that particular deployment passing away has been consistent over the last 15 years. I’m sure other units have experienced similar occurrences. I put this out there to encourage veterans to do two things: 1). Call your veteran brothers and sisters. Don’t rely on social media. Let them know that you care about them. 2). We as veterans should keep our affairs in order. Most of have our dress uniforms hanging in the closet ready to go. However, it’s equally important that our finances be in order, our insurance be up to date, and our loved ones supplied with instructions should that day come. As leaders in our homes, it’s our responsibility to ensure our families are taken care of just as good, if not better than the men we led in the military. #veteran #Veteranfinance #army #marines #financialfreedom #financialplanning Till Valhalla Paratroopers!
