As we continue to introduce our company history through our 2024 calendar, the theme chosen for June is "上を見て歩こう" which roughly translates to ”Let’s keep our chin up, facing the sky as we walk forward" It was the 1960's when Japan was riding a wave of high economic growth, and Fujimori Kogyo was addressing customer challenges one after another, rapidly iterating failed prototypes to achieve market-ready products for our customers. During the early stages of production development, Cubitainer, SPZ and retort pouch packaging for Bon Curry all proved difficult to achieve stable production and commercialization. Of course, all of these are well known products in Japan now. But the valuable learning from these challenging developments has given us the competence we needed to further develop our products and achieve top market shares across multiple different industries. In addition, our expansion into the logistics industry with industrial strength coverings freight shipments (HI-PY sheets) was a turning point for us, as this drove us to be one of the first companies in Japan to establish an overseas subsidiary when other companies were still hesitating for sake of related uncertainties. Seven & I plans to spin off Ito-Yokado as part of a new 'superstore' division. This is almost 20 years since the company was last delisted as a way to keep key assets safe within its holding company. It says it plans to keep a large stake, but could this be a precursor to selling off the GMS chain altogether? See more in the latest issue of JapanConsuming: https://buff.ly/3QACcD9

FOUND THE PROBLEM, AND IT IS RELATED TO INDUSTRYBUYING.COM I always knew that industrybuying was owned by a Japanase major company which runs same business in Japan, Korea and Indonesia. IB is a subsidiary of Monotaro Japan. On researching more, I found out that Monotaro is not just another .com boom creation, it is partly owned by the company which is the problem. So what is the problem? VCs in India do now know about this Nasdaq listed 100 year old $50bn company from Chicago. In 1995 the grainger.com website was launched with an electronic catalog, later evolving to an eCommerce platform. In 2016, Grainger was named the 11th largest eCommerce retailer in North America by Internet Retailer. In 2019, more than 70 percent of Grainger orders in the U.S. originated via a digital channel (including Grainger.com, inventory management systems, and eProcurement) and more than 85 percent of orders were shipped directly to the customer or made immediately available through onsite services. They are doing a revenue of $15bn annually. https://lnkd.in/daEfXu6R

Genchi genbutsu! WHAT is it? One of the core stones in the foundation of Japanese job success philosophy is the rule: you will not succeed until you touch the problem itself. Until you go to the very beginning of the issue and reveal it's source. With your own eyes. Go and see for yourself = Genchi genbutsu. HOW it works? At Toyota Motor factory in Saint Petersburg, we - the Purchasing department regularly went to warehouse in order to support the inventory activities, plus to see and to touch our own scope - spare parts, instruments, and materials. WHAT for? First of all it reveals the item identification issues and risks connected within. Furthermore, from warehouse employees you may easily know of the: 💧 regular problems with documentation, 💧 issues with packaging, 💧 true delivery conditions, 💧 accuracy and the professionalism of the supplier's logistic team. Simple things, the drops... but they can form a great leverage in negotiation, when properly presented. Finally, your regular supplier performance evaluation will become more practical and more professional with the inputs "from the fields". SO please, close your Excels. Have a walk. Enhance own networking. Change the angle of consideration. Go and see it for yourself! And here is the tip - do not visit your warehouse in the rush hours. Coordinate the best timing. ⌚ #Genchigenbutsu #supplierevaluation #Toyota #negotiating #networking
