The results are in for the connects2050 Survey! In the survey, we asked you to prioritize different transportation strategies. The average respondent spent the most money on Fixing What We Have and Traffic Management. Safety and Bike/Ped Infrastructure were also in the top half of funded strategies. Working with high voltage or amperage filters is something that is becoming more the standard due to switching to electrics instead of using fossil fuels. Electric charging stations, electric motors and battery packs are a few examples.
23 meters long, 15 meters wide, and 9 meters high, with a turntable that has an 8-meter diameter. Technical Consultant Uliana Trucchi explains what makes this room so unique. “I’ve been in the business for 28 years, and it’s the first time we delivered a room with 1500V / 1000A filters (1000 A is tough for filters and connectors), for example. This room for alpitronic in Bolzano, Italy, is prepared to test so-called hyperchargers for superfast charging. We had to install special connectors, and safety was more of an issue than normal. The chamber will be used for emissions tests from 30 MHz to 18 GHz at 10m and 3m range. Furthermore, it has a normalised site attenuation test zone (RSM as per CISPR 16-1-4), or quiet zone, of 7,5 meters at a 10m distance, which our R&D engineer Dimitrios Barakos developed.” Uliana tells us how she experienced the completion of the room. “I’m from the north of Italy, so you should expect that working for a client in Bolzano is a home game. But people forget that this part of Italy is Italian and German-speaking and was once part of Austria. However, our colleague who oversees the installation speaks German fluidly. My client contact was Andreas Lösch, a young and highly talented engineer at alpitronic. It’s amazing to see how Alpitronic empowers young people by giving Andreas the mandate to lead this important project.” Andreas Lösch recalls the team's early working hours: “The Comtest team helped me a lot by starting emailing at 5 in the morning. I’m swamped during office hours, so exchanging updates before the office opens is great. We joked about the early hours we started to work, and I called us the early bird club! But, working with Comtest was a pleasure; they delivered a good technical solution for a competitive price with well-developed planning. The reactivity of the Comtest team was great: they always supported my questions and requests as soon as possible.”
