Marking the start of construction works, the cornerstone has been laid at the site of the new Ülemiste Passenger Terminal in #Tallinn. A multi-modal transport hub for the city’s commuters as well as international rail passengers and air travellers using the adjacent Tallinn Airport, the Ülemiste Passenger Terminal is designed as a connecting bridge linking together districts of Tallinn currently separated by the railway tracks that disect the city. Opening in 2028, Tallinn’s Ülemiste terminal will be the northern terminus of the new 870-kilometre Rail Baltica electrified railway now under-construction. Providing passenger services at speeds up to 249km/h, Rail Baltica will connect Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania with the European high-speed rail network in Poland. #ZahaHadidArchitects developed the design with leading Estonian architecture & engineering firm Esplan. Circulation routes through the terminal have determined the station’s spatial geometry to aid navigation and the seamless integration of the city’s bus, tram, rail and cycle networks that intersect at the terminus. Incorporating a modular structural system built in phases to enable ongoing operations on the rail lines throughout construction, the terminal has been designed and planned to BREEAM benchmarks and guidelines. #Estonia’s Climate Minister, Kristen Michal, said: “We have been dreaming of a fast connection to Europe. This is a landmark year in the construction of Rail Baltica – in addition to laying the cornerstone of the Ülemiste terminal, the construction of the main line has also begun. A project is underway to transform the way infrastructure assets including wind turbines and bridges are monitored and maintained.Instead of expensive scheduled inspections,diagnoses can be provided economically by permanently installed sensors that continuously collect structural data and interpret it via computer algorithms that will help inform the framework.A real challenge to monitoring large infrastructure is the lack of data from these structures,particularly damaged state data.Structures will be represented in mathematical graph form and graph theory will be used to calculate a similarity score between them.This systematic approach for comparison is a huge step in the field,as for the first time it allows the limited data that is available to be leveraged, by exploiting it to manage other structures.So,the question is how can you most effectively exploit and develop machine learning,or particular aspects of machine learning such as transfer learning,for managing large civil infrastructure, told a Prof ;the combination of machine learning/artificial intelligence with physics can offer a very novel and powerful approach,which will enable informative and robust predictions in the health monitoring setting,the Prof continued.
Zaha Hadid Architects, Terminal in Tallinn. I follow the work of the architecture studio founded by the talented Zaha. After her flight to heaven, there has been a continuous development of the group which has inherited all of Zaha's greatness as an artist, architect and designer. I don't know when the group received the design assignment for the Tallinn terminal. Certainly her poetics of reviewing the architecture, the landscape, the surrounding environment, in short, everything was analyzed through her expressive and revolutionary lyricism already back then. I admired the technologies invented by her with a far-sighted presence towards a fabulous future until today far from her but imbued with her love for her. Here today with L!A1 we can print entire cities, all of them would seem simple because buy the mode any studio would seem to be able to! But no, copying remains petty useless almost degenerative. I certainly don't want to raise dust. But simply imagine whether an acquired modality can remain unchanged or change according to the new, keeping in mind the origins and successes deserved and admired by us all. Zaha Hadid Architects is a productive brand capable of inventing beautiful architectural solutions.

Seguo i lavoro dello studio di architettura voluto dalla bravissima Zaha, dopo la sua volata in cielo, c’è stato un continuo sviluppo del gruppo che ha ereditato tutta la grandezza di artista architetto design di Zaha. Non so quali sono stati i tempi in cui il gruppo abbia ricevuto l’incarico di progettazione per il terminale di Tallinn. Certamente la sua poetica di rivedere l’architettura il paesaggio l’ambiente circostante tutto insomma fosse analizzato attraverso la sua lirica espressiva e rivoluzionaria già da allora. Ho ammirato le sue tecnologie inventate con presenza lungimirante verso un favoloso futuro sino ad oggi lontano da lei ma intrisi del suo amore. Ecco oggi con L!A1 possiamo stampare intere città, tutte sembrerebbe semplice perché acquista la modalità qualsiasi studio sembrerebbe potesse! Invece no, copiare resta meschino inutile quasi degenerativo. Certamente non voglio alzare polvere. Ma semplicemente immaginare se una modalità acquisita possa restare inalterata oppure mutare in funzione del nuovo avendo a mente le provenienze e i successi meritati e ammirati da noi tutti. Zaha Hadid Architects e’ marchio produttivo capace inventare bellissime soluzioni architettoniche.
