Discussing UK government policy changes on gender-neutral toilets and highlighting my previous writings that touched on this topic in 2023. We explore the Equality Act 2010, which underpins the policy shift, and highlight the diversity within the transgender community. We explore the "curb effect," emphasising safety concerns and the need for inclusive policies. This comprehensive exploration offers a nuanced perspective on this debated issue, advocating for policies that prioritize inclusivity and respect for all gender identities. #acceptancewithoutunderstanding #toilets #genderneutral #policy #equality

"Leave No One Behind" The report by Asian Development Bank (ADB) aptly provides a comprehensive and curative picture on gender equality and disability inclusion. Right from stating facts and data on women with disabilities in Asia-Pacific region in comparison with global numbers, the entry points mentioned towards inclusion surely should be on our priority list and especially the Indian context where there is a growth in the skill ecosystem yet somehow the disability sector is behind many steps. Intersectionality always played a major role in the disability landscape and these guidelines can be adapted to at least intervene in the right manner. #genderanddisability #guidelines #disabilitysector #leavenoonebehind

As we approach the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Pandemic Periods has reviewed the resolutions and complied a list of those that we believe should include menstrual health. Menstrual health is central to the equality, rights, and dignity of women, adolescent girls, transgender men, and non-binary people who menstruate. Yet, it is often left out of global policies, conventions, and resolutions. Regan Moss and Dr.Bismah Nayyer (She/Her/Hers) highlight where the gaps are and why global leaders are missing an opportunity in this month's PP blog: Read now: https://lnkd.in/dVtTVs6k #unga78 #srhr #menstrualhealth #menstruation I

💪 We are committed to social justice and believe in promoting human rights, where everyone is free and equal in dignity and rights. ♀️ This drives our support for women at higher risk of gender-based violence, including those with disabilities, older women, and Aboriginal women. 💔 This year alone, 25 women have been killed due to gender-based violence in Australia, with a higher rate in regional and rural areas where support services are limited. 🤲 Through our work, we stand with the women who face additional barriers like limited mobility, isolation, or cultural discrimination, which can increase their risk of violence. 🔊 We continue to advocate for a more inclusive, gender equal world and are dedicated to creating an environment where everyone is respected, valued, and free from fear. #SocialJustice #EndGenderBasedViolence #NoMoreNationalRallyAgainstViolence

On this Women’s Day at NPST, we're reaffirming our commitment to fostering an equal workplace. We understand that achieving true equality is an ongoing journey, and we're dedicated to making continual progress. This year, we're proud to center our efforts around the theme: Empowered Women, Empower Women. With a significant portion of our workforce being women, it's crucial that we create an environment where they feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed. As part of our commitment, we recently organized sessions on women’s mental and sexual reproductive health—topics that are still taboo in many parts of India. We believe that addressing these issues openly contributes to a more supportive and inclusive workplace. Our focus is on building spaces where women can safely share their experiences, voice their challenges, and celebrate their successes. Join us in championing #empoweredwomenempowerwomen and let's work together to create an inclusive and equitable workplace where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. Today, on May 28, 2024, we celebrate World Menstrual Hygiene Day with the theme #periodFriendlyWorld. This day highlights the importance of good menstrual hygiene management (MHM) and the challenges many women and girls face during their menstrual cycles. Proper menstrual hygiene is essential for health, education, and gender equality. Many women and girls still lack access to sanitary products, safe facilities, and education, leading to health issues and absenteeism from school and work. To create a #periodFriendlyWorld, we must: - Raise awareness and normalize conversations about menstruation. - Support access to affordable sanitary products. - Improve period-friendly sanitation facilities. - Promote comprehensive menstrual health education. Let's commit to action and ensure every woman and girl can manage her period with dignity and safety. Together, we can build a #periodFriendlyWorld.

Free period products don't exclusively belong in women's toilets. Why? 🤯 Easy: 👉Menstruation isn't restricted to women. Transgender men, non-binary individuals, and anyone who menstruates should have access to period products regardless of the restroom they use. 👉Accessibility matters. Periods don't wait for the 'right' restroom. By providing menstrual products in all restrooms, we ensure that no one is caught short during an unexpected period emergency. 👉Normalising periods! Placing period products in all restrooms helps break down taboos surrounding periods. It shows solidarity with individuals who menstruate, fostering an environment of empathy and understanding among all restroom users. Pave the way for an inclusive work culture with us: bdm@heygirls.co.uk #inclusion #workculture #accessibility #menstruation
