In an evening of connection, music, and performance, our LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) opened the Zalando Berlin Pride celebrations for 2024 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Our ERG members are bringing the community together in the days before the Berlin Christopher Street Day / Berlin Pride (CSD) to reflect, connect, and create more awareness and understanding among our colleagues, both within and outside of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Thank you to Deepan and his workstream for organising the event, the awareness team for their support, and Pierre for bringing Pride at Zalando to life 🧡

Dear Zalando, are you aware of what is happening to your Spanish division (zalando.es)? Are you aware of all the people who are getting ripped off by your online shop in Spain? Have you seen trustpilot? Have you done an audit of how many shipments get actually delivered and what is happening with all the people who don't receive their orders nor get a refund? Are you aware how your customer service works? I have never been treated this way and it makes me sick to see that I'm not alone and nobody from @Zalando seems to care. Are you planning on closing zalando.es and this is your policy to scare off all the customers? Well it's definitely working. I would love to get in touch with you and share my feedback so that you can do something about it before it's too late and you loose your credibility completely.
Unconscious biases are social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form outside of their own conscious awareness. Everyone holds unconscious beliefs whether we like it or not. The first step in overcoming unconscious bias is to be honest with ourselves, to acknowledge our biases, and to learn more about ourselves and others.
One of our Pride Month activities was the 'Unconscious Bias' workshop, where we learned how stereotypes influence our decisions and received practical tips on how to deal with unconscious thought patterns.

🌈 Pride Month at Miele🌈
Diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities are essential for us at Miele. Pride Month reminds us that striving for equal rights and opportunities in 2024 is more important than ever. That's why we celebrated Pride Month with our colleagues in June.
Our highlight was the "Unconscious Bias" workshop. We learnt how stereotypes influence our decisions and received practical tips on how to deal with unconscious thought patterns. At Miele, we are proud to set an example for acceptance and inclusivity through such initiatives and to make our contribution to promoting diversity and inclusion.

On Monday, I was honoured to speak at Icons of Inclusion, an inspirational event hosted by OutThere at The Dorchester that focuses on meaningful conversations and actionable steps to improve diversity and inclusion practices in tourism and luxury hospitality.
When asked to speak about art and hospitality as a force for good, the first thing that came to mind was my own experiences travelling with my partner, spending hours checking hotel reviews to know we won't be met with the humiliating question: Are you sure you want a double room? Or worse, being turned away. So when someone has made an effort to put a welcome note to Mr. and Mr., it makes us feel welcome and makes the hotel brand stand out.
It might seem like a small detail, but when excellence is the norm, the tiny details become the point of difference. Elegant and subtle storytelling moments like these can show guests that they're in a safe and inclusive space.
At Artiq we approach this through art. The right art can encapsulate a brand's values, aesthetics, engagement with the local community, storytelling ability, commitment to the environment, and, most importantly, it can communicate an understanding of diversity and inclusion. All can be summarised in what hangs on those walls.
Over the years, we have curated some incredible, impactful projects that embody the idea of art as a tool to communicate allyship. One of my favourite examples is CHATEAU DENMARK. A hotel that sits at the historic heart of Britain’s music industry, on the edge of Soho on Denmark Street, they could easily have gone down the route of “great men of music”, but instead, they told a story of subversion, difference and diverse cultures. Their art collection features an incredible series by artist Damien Frost. For the past decade, he's been photographing what he calls "Night Flowers” - people whose true identities come out at night in London’s electric underground queer party scene. The art - just like the brand - is unique and unapologetic.
Another example from outside the hospitality sector is a law firm in Singapore. In 2022, during the decriminalisation of same-sex for men, they commissioned an enormous mural by a queer artist. The mural depicts a brightly coloured jungle, but for anyone who reads the plaque or asks the team about it, they have a story of solidarity with the queer community, showing that this particular firm is a safe and inclusive space.
Perhaps, by selecting an art collection that tells a story of solidarity, the hospitality sector can not only show support and allyship with its guests but also create opportunities for a new generation of diverse artists and storytellers.
Thank you Uwern Jong for this opportunity!

At Inditex we have celebrated 'Shaping today x tomorrow'. These are days to rethink, share and build together a more sustainable and inclusive future. And to reflect what we have already achieved, to appreciate where we are and move towards what we want to be as a company and agent of change.
Among other actions, we enjoyed a talk by Frans Johansson, American writer, businessman and public speaker. He is the author of ‘The Medici Effect’, which explains that bringing together people from different disciplines leads to better learning and experimentation.
Two key points of his talk:
‘Diverse teams have an easier time refranging opportunities and challenges. But this only works if you are able to be inclusive of different perspectives'.
‘When you are diverse and inclusive you also make the right decision more often’.
At Inditex we design opportunities for all.

I would like to share some illuminating insights from Frans Johansson’s recent talk on the power of diversity and inclusion in driving innovation. At Zara, we've always believed in the incredible value that diverse teams bring to our organization.
Diversity is more than just a buzzword for us; it's a strategic imperative. A team that mirrors the multifaceted nature of our world—encompassing different races, genders, ages, sexual orientations, professional backgrounds, and more—is a team that's equipped to make better decisions.
Why?
Because they bring a wide array of perspectives, understanding the world through varied lenses, and thereby approaching challenges with a rich tapestry of solutions.
But diversity alone isn't enough. It's the inclusion that turns the key in the lock, unleashing the true potential of our diverse teams. Inclusion means creating an environment where everyone feels free to be their authentic selves, to think independently, and to voice their unique ideas.
Innovation isn't just about coming up with new ideas—it's about connecting existing concepts in novel ways. And the more diverse our teams, the richer the pool of ideas and experiences we have to draw from, increasing our chances of making those groundbreaking connections that drive our industry forward.
Let's continue to champion diversity and, more importantly, inclusion within our teams.

🌈 Celebrating Diversity and Empowering LGBTQ+ Voices: Levi's Pride Campaign 🌈
I am thrilled to share my admiration for the Levi's Pride campaign, which stands out as a powerful example of inclusive marketing.
What is the campaign?
In a world where clothing is not just a necessity but also a means of self-expression, Levi's, as a globally recognized apparel brand, has truly embraced the concept of "all the different ways to show who you are" in their campaign. What sets this campaign apart is the genuine and authentic representation of LGBTQ+ individuals and their unique stories, inspiring people around the world with various expressions of self-identity and shedding light on the experiences of queer individuals and other marginalized groups.
Why is this campaign successful?
One of the most commendable aspects of the Levi's Pride campaign is its commitment to diversity and inclusivity. The advertisements authentically reflect the backgrounds, characteristics, and identities of different individuals. Take, for instance, Dalzell from Mexico City, who identifies as non-binary, or Toshi from Nagoya, Japan, who challenges the fashion market's limited mindset. There's also Sean, a queer country dancing instructor, and the passionate community workers, cake and Britt. These interviewees encompass a range of races, genders, sexual orientations, ages, abilities, religious beliefs, and cultural backgrounds, presenting a rich tapestry of images and stories.
Furthermore, I deeply appreciate the community perspective that the campaign embraces. Despite facing difficulties in the past due to their gender identity or sexual orientation, the interviewees have emerged as empowered individuals who contribute to their communities and inspire others through their unique strengths. Levi's, through this campaign, emphasizes the values of equality and inclusiveness, rejects discrimination and prejudice, and actively encourages the creation of a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
Success metrics
The campaign reached more than 7 million people on social media and promoted the LGBT collection, showing Levi's taking action to support the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, Levi's has committed to donating $100,000 annually to Outright International. This reflects Levi's sincere concern for social issues and his active participation in social welfare activities to contribute to social progress. Such campaigns not only increase brand awareness but also foster brand loyalty among consumers who align with these values.
Overall, the Levi's Pride campaign is a resounding success in the realm of inclusive marketing. Through authentic storytelling, the campaign not only showcases Levi's brand values but also promotes inclusivity and amplifies the voices of LGBTQ+ individuals. 🌈

Most of you already know that George Baltă recently joined our team as a Diversity & Inclusion Specialist, while also serving as the ambassador for the Kaufland A.C.C.E.S. program. George’s impact goes beyond just his title—he's transforming the way we think about inclusion at Kaufland.
🚀 Recently, George participated in the "1:1 by eJobs" podcast, where he shared his personal and professional journey. His story is a powerful example of resilience and determination, as he managed to find something positive in the accident that changed his life. George’s unwavering commitment to overcoming obstacles and advocating for others is nothing short of inspiring.
💡 Did you know that only 𝟭𝟴.𝟱% of people with disabilities in Romania are employed? This statistic shows just how crucial it is for companies to step up and make a difference. Last week, I had the pleasure of attending Soko Glam x good light cosmetics’s virtual event for their Taste of Space Lip Milk launch. Good Light’s founder David Yi, Soko Glam’s Founder, Charlotte Cho, and beauty creator, Ivan Lam were great to watch, and hosted excellent conversations. The event was fun and fresh and offered a space for queer & AAPI people to talk about dismantling stereotypes and creating a space where we can exist freely and openly, beyond the confines of the binary. This is so closely aligned with my mission as a content creator, and it makes me so proud to see founders and companies making strides like this.
In the spirit of this, I wanted to share my personal creator “mission statement” or why I create content and exist online. So, here it is: ✨ I create androgynous style, lifestyle, and queer content to inspire and motivate radical non-conformers to show up as the most authentic version of themselves. ✨
As a non-binary, half-Filipino-half-white creator, I aim to be the representation I didn't have growing up. Representation matters, and I hope that by being myself online, I can encourage others not to be afraid to be who they are openly and proudly. I hope that people watch and engage with my content, and feel empowered to show up as who they are meant to be, wear what they want to wear, and exist freely in a world that wants to put people into boxes.
If you are a brand looking for passionate and authentic creators to create content, let's connect! 💖
