ZALORA’s Sustainability Efforts to be a #ForceForGood in The Community Across The Markets At ZALORA, our vision is to be people and planet positive. By that, we recognise that it is our responsibility, as part of our sustainability journey, to leave a positive footprint in the environment and communities that we operate in. Leading up to ZALORA's Sustainability Month in April, we are excited to share our collective efforts across the region as we came together to be a #forceforgood for our environment and communities. ZALORA in Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore partnered with environmental organisations and government agencies to do cleanup activities in their regions. ZALORA Indonesia partnered with World Cleanup Day Indonesia, a global movement calling for a green move to clean up the planet, to activate Zalorians for a river cleanup at Sungai Ciliwung. Zalorians, donned with safety gears, combed the riverbed area littered with glass and plastic bottles, discarded food wrappers and containers and more. In all, 57 sacks of trash and litter, weighing a total of 387 kg, were collected that day. ZALORA Philippines collaborated with Save Philippine Seas, to organise a two-day session, comprising of a virtual educational session and a coastal cleanup activity at Freedom Island, also known as the Las Piñas - Parañaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA), the next day. Zalorians also learned about marine litter and the importance of personal waste management. A total of 18 bags of trash, weighing 54 kg, were collected during this coastal cleanup. ZALORA Singapore partnered with National Environment Agency’s “Say YES to Waste Less” Campaign and Stridy - a green app that tracks and measures global impact of waste collected from the environment, to organise an urban cleanup at City Sprouts. Over a period of 2 hours, stretching 1km from across the starting point to the neighbourhood carpark, Zalorians and GFG employees collected 7 bags of trash that added to a total weight of 14 kg of trash collected. ZALORA Malaysia partnered with The Salvation Army, Malaysia to sort out donated items for resale in efforts to give pre-loved items a second chance, and with its proceeds benefiting those in need. Our volunteers dug deep through the donations to discern those in sellable conditions. Zalorians also had to brave through gunny sacks that were infested with pests in order to sort out donations that were good for sale. Across 2 days, Zalorians sorted out 13 gunny sacks of donated items, amounting to approximately 5,200kg in total weight. Together, we saw 100 Zalorians and GFG employees across the four markets come together as #OneTeamOneDream to make a global impact of 5,655 kg of waste collected and donations sorted, in 392 man hours, in the first quarter of 2023. Stay tuned as ZALORA progressively rolls out volunteering activities across the markets and continues to be a #ForceForGood in the community.
