Today, the PRA has published the "near-final" Basel 3.1 rules for credit risk, the output floor, reporting and disclosure requirements as well as the Strong and Simple capital regime for smaller firms. Implementation has been pushed back another six months to 1 January 2026. This is a huge milestone - and will mean some very busy regulatory change analysis and implementation activity for the next few months! https://lnkd.in/eyZucrdX However, huge uncertainty hangs over the US Basel Endgame with the regulators currently focused on wading their way through the huge amount of (mostly negative) feedback on the proposed rules. The November election results will also have a bearing on this timeline so watch this space 👀 . #basel3.1 #PRA #prudentialregulation #risk #control

Following the Federal Reserve’s revised publication of its proposed implementation of Basel 3 ‘Endgame’ - from an industry standpoint, a favourable deviation from the original draft, the PRA today published the highly anticipated second release of its near final policy statement and rules covering the implementation of Basel 3.1 standards for credit risk, the output floor, reporting and disclosure requirements in response to consultation paper CP16/22. Overall it seems that both regulators have struck a balance between adopting a more risk sensitive standardised approach, whilst reducing the gap against internal rating based application and minimising the consequential uplift in capital requirements, albeit less so for US banks. https://lnkd.in/e9p-KUvM
