Am I fueling filmmakers with false hope? I ask myself this before every Commercial Directing Bootcamp. Is making a living directing ads possible for the next-generation of filmmakers? There's more opportunity and video being made than ever. On the other, there's limitless competition and budgets have shriveled like a scrotum in an ice bath. Some of us adapt, preserve, even flourish. I teach what's worked for me, gatekeeping be damned. Since 2015, I've done this intensive, in-person workshop. Alumni have gone on to get signed with top production companies, make award-winning spots, get short-listed at Cannes and make buckets of money. Some have said "After Bootcamp, I know I no longer with to make commercials" and pursue other directing dreams. There's value in knowing what you don't want to do, btw. December 14th will be our 26th Bootcamp and we're only accepting 10 #filmmakers this time.
