💭 Imagine if Social Media Had a Closing Time... 🕖 Picture this: It’s 7 PM. Your screens suddenly fades and displays. "Sorry, folks, we’re closed for the day! See you tomorrow!" 🚫 Suddenly, we’re faced with… reality. A terrifying thought for some! 😆 Now what? Instead of endlessly scrolling, we’d actually look up and see the people around us - our family, roommates, maybe even the dog. We might even - wait for it -talk to each other! Or imagine rediscovering books 📚 (those funny paper things) or picking up that guitar collecting dust in the corner. And the best part? Not feeling the urge to check notifications every three minutes! It would be like rewinding to the ‘good old’ days’ when evenings meant family time, not screen time. Kids would be asking what a “reel” is and “did they post a story in the newspaper?” 😂 So here’s a little reminder: while we’re fortunate enough to be online 24/7, maybe we don’t have to be. Just think - after 7 PM, the ‘like’ that really matters could be from a smile across the dinner table. 😊 Who’s in for a little social media “closing time” every now and then? ✋ #SocialMedia #FamilyTime #Hobby #Passion #Rediscover #ScreenTime #SocialMediaCraze

To all my Millennials and Gen-Z's and everyone else who feels like you need to monetize your life to get by: You are not Content. You are a Human Being. Said another way: you are a human _being_ not a human _doing_. While we are the sum of what we continually practice, you do not have to sell yourself 24/7, you do not have to sacrifice your authentic self on the altar of social media, you do not have to be a thought leader or exit your company a bajillionaire. There is joy in the work, solely for the works' sake. There is peace in quiet, un-broadcasted conversations. There is as much enjoyment in a $20 meal as a $200 meal. There is hope in creating the world you want. You don't have to advertise everything, always. You owe the world nothing and your success doesn't need to advertise itself for it to be true. Celebrate when it's needed. Speak up when it's needed. Be at peace. Happy Wednesday.

Why age shouldn’t mean less fun. Yesterday, I was accused (nicely) of bringing glitter and disco balls to the proverbial party: For me, whatever we do should be fun in some format; Yes, we have many tough things in life to deal with; But we can find ways to thread fun through our lives and even these tough situations; Ultimately, our time is limited, so what is the point if we’re not having fun along the way? Age can be a killer of fun, but it really shouldn’t be: There is no age limit on fun, only the limit that we set for ourselves; Look at the older couple who went to Fabric nightclub for years in their retirement; they did not limit themselves; So, next time you feel you are doing something you are too old to do, ask yourself if it is fun; if the answer is yes, crack on; Ultimately, we have control of our foolish urge to self-limit. Our time is limited enough without putting our own restrictions on it. Hi, I’m James. I write about Death, dying, and living a good life. Why not sign up for a newsletter using the link above? 7 random things I've been thinking about this week, if you're into that sorta thing (217 words): 1.) I love the way running makes me feel but not enough to do it more than once a week. 2.) How long has the “It’s giving me _______” saying been a thing? As in, when did we decide to drop the word 'vibes' from the sentence? Is this a new TikTok thing? Because it makes me want to vomit. “It’s giving me Taylor circa 2007” has a vastly different tone than “It’s giving me Taylor circa 2007 vibes.” 3.) My criteria for a good ‘random things’ post: did I lose a follower within one hour of posting? If no, then it’s not a good post. 4.) I miss landlines. 5.) What’s everybody’s favorite line from the Drake and K Dot beef? Mine's gotta be that Kendrick one about Tommy Hilfiger and FUBU. (Great to have a real rap beef again. Kendrick is bodying.) 6.) Just to make sure we’re all on the same page—May is the best month of the year, right? 7.) Why are birds so loud in the morning? And what are they saying to each other? That's it for this week. Love it? Hate it? Is this post giving you Taylor circa 2007…vibes? Not me but so great if it is for you. Steal a few flowers from your neighbors this weekend, friends.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love to give things away. If you were around during the Bump Club + Beyond Days...you know that I gave away thousands of dollars in strollers, car seats and many baby items each and every week. Over the holidays I always went on one of Chicago’s local TV shows and gave away almost $100,000 in gifts to deserving moms in the audience. And now, as the Host of Dear FoundHer... I try my best to give away some of my favorite female founded products whenever I can. But, more important, I give away my knowledge (and that of my podcast guests) by sharing our past experiences each and every day. For the last few weeks we’ve been sharing gifts that you can give to everyone else through our two Holiday Gift guides. And now, we want to shift focus. We want to give SOMETHING TO YOU. With the holidays upon us this week and the New Year around the corner, we thought there’d be no better time than to give YOU the ultimate gift for YOUR BUSINESS this holiday season. For EIGHT CRAZY NIGHTS (December 23-30), we’ll be sending freebies and exclusive deals on some of our most downloaded and most purchased, game-changing digital resources and tools designed to help you grow your business straight to your inbox. These are the tools used by our clients and mentees in Marketing Made Simple for Small Business. They’re in the @dearfoundher Forum as well (along with dozens of others.) These resources are designed to help you organize your marketing, improve your social media, set up partnerships and be more efficient. They are the step by step books, checklists and guides that so many within our community are already using—and we want you to have access as well. It’s just like giving your business a present to open every night for a whole week. Add your name to the list below so you don’t miss out—-we’ll send them straight to your inbox. CLICK THE LINK IN THE COMMENTS and get on the list to have these resources and deals sent to you. Tag a friend who you would think wants in too. As you know, we’re #bettertogether, and there’s no gatekeeping around here. Happy Holidays to YOU! #smallbusinessresources #smallbusinesssupport

🎅🎄 This Christmas, remember: The greatest gift you can give yourself isn’t under the tree—it’s the commitment to become the person you’ve always wanted to be. Most people waste December making excuses: “I’ll start in January.” That’s loser talk. Winners build momentum now. 💥 Think about it: Santa didn’t build an empire overnight. He didn’t sit on his ass waiting for the North Pole’s economy to grow—he worked, planned, and executed. 🎁 The elves didn’t become elite toy-makers by taking December off—they grinded when everyone else was “relaxing.” THAT’S the mindset you need. Here’s the truth no one wants to hear: If you’re unhappy with where you are, it’s because YOU allowed it. Tough love? Sure. But let me tell you this: You are 1 DECISION away from flipping the script on your life. 🔥 Christmas isn’t just about gifts—it’s about growth. What’s your excuse? Too much food? Too busy? Too many distractions? B.S. You have the same 24 hours as everyone else. The difference between winners and losers is simple: Action. This Christmas, give yourself the gift of self-discipline. Set the tone for 2025 NOW. Because the world doesn’t care about your excuses—it only respects results. 🚀💪 🎄 If you’re ready to level up, drop a 🎅 in the comments. Let’s get to work. 👊 #ChristmasGrind #LevelUp #NoExcuses
